I don't think you're delusional at all, his dream move might be to Real or Barca and they aren't ready to pounce until the summer. Not sure it's certain he'll go in Jan because he is going to be very expensive. May well be the club give him a big bonus for staying until the summer, lets face it the worldwide publicity is probably worth a packet, and he gets a perfect move where everyone is happy*.

*because that happens so often in football...
Why would the club give him a bonus if he stays until the summer? He's contracted until 2025.

Odd that PB didn’t specifically mentioned a new contract has been signed before the World Cup, he only mentioned meeting his father and rep before but no specifics, unless I heard wrong (over the background noise of Fortnite?!)

Bet his agent feels like a right mug agreeing that new deal.

Barbs not missing a trick of course, straight on the radio to get everyone gushing about our world cup win

When that second goal went in yesterday I was thinking to myself 'It's just like watching Brighton'. Pinch me!!

I do think we could be in danger of overdoing the smugness though. But yes looking back to where we have been (91st in the league in the run up to WC1998) why ever not???

Just can't see us holding onto Mac.

Every player has a price I'm afraid. How much is enough?

If Cucarella is worth 62m, how much is a world cup winner and star player with the eyes of the world upon him and 3 year contract - £120m? We can name our price - i just hope he stays.

Sorry if you have already seen this..... it seems completely surreal - but in a good way..... https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/64019380
Wouldn't look too much into those ratings. Brighton fans have been spamming them (aka doing a Leeds) since the World Cup started and our players have been top rated in every game they've played.

But these reader ratings are meaningless aren't they? Loads of Brighton fans voting and bigging up our players. It's been the same throughout the tournament. Not that he didn't have a great game (and a great tournament), but MOM yesterday? Doubtful.

My guess is that there is some sort of clause or agreement in that contract that made him sign it, since the timing was obviously disadvantageous for Mac. Could be a buyout clause or maybe a clause giving the player a percentage of the transfer fee or something in that manner.

I wasn't commenting on the accuracy of the ratings so much as the fact it was possible for the article to be created in the first place; that's what is surreal and I really don't care if he was MOM or not..... he certainly wasn't a 'bit' player on the day...

He is very smart, so is his Dad. They know he can play for Argentina while he is at Brighton so the only reason for him to go would be to get regular football at the very very top, which no top club would guarantee him now. If he goes to a big club and doesn’t get game time, he could become another Lo Celso.

He was pretty bloody close to it - if not it.

Why? His next deal is going to make him a multi-millionaire anyway (and will make Mac Allister a fair few bob too).

See post 3061 - and yes, it is surreal ..................:lolol:
Beat me to it... but worth declaring twice anyway, no?
