Don't the BBC have any other presenters they can use? Ms Scott is all over the telebox at the moment, and will be even more with FF, QoS,Motd, and numerous other appearances.
There are plenty of other diverse presenters of various genders, sexualities, ethnicity out there, and imo Ms Scott is not a particularly good presenter, or pundit, especially when compared to Claire Balding, Sue Barker and Karen Carney. Her presenting style always seems forced , and looks like she is never comfortable . When she first appeared a few years ago I hoped that she would grow into the role, and become more personable but she hasn't appeared to develop her skills at all . Her clipped vocal presentation is just annoying after 5 mins.
Diversity is good, and I say lets have some diversity from Ms Scott,

Do you have the same issue with Dan Walker?

Congratulations to Alec Scott, announced as new host of Football Focus, she will do a terrific job. Also looking forward to her hosting QOTS later in the year alonside her other presenting duties on Sky Sports, BBC Womens Internationals, The Female Sports Show and the One Show.

It's Alex. Alex. Not Alec. As her top fanboy getting her name wrong is UNFORGIVABLE :)

I think Alec Scott is a great choice,I find that Dan chap rather wooden and seems a bit out of place.
I think Alec Scott personality will help and being an ex footballer should bring about some more interesting discussion and a bit of freindly ex footballer banter simalar to what lineker brought to match of the day I reckon.
I'm also impressed how prepared she is whenever she is on a panel,I get the impression she has really worked hard on research and stats before an appearance.
I agree with Karen cerney too though,I was really impressed with her commentary and analysis on Monday, really good.
I usually listen to radio Sussex,Warren and JC are the best commentary team for the Albion in my opinions on but if Karen is on radio 5 again I will probably give that a listen instead.
But congratulations to Alec Scott thoroughly deserved.

What do you think of Martin Tyler? He does lots of research and is well prepared.

How many other commentators would know Dan Burn’s height, Steve Mc Mahon’s goal scoring record and a 1970s TV detective series that might have starred Jason Steele, and smoothly shoe horn this into an Albion commentary!!

I know he's a lovely guy and a practising Christian etc etc, but am I the only one tiring of DW? I switched on Breakfast this morning and there he was again, with the same jokes.

Broadcasters often go for overkill when they feel they've discovered a popular presenter, they start appearing everywhere. In the past - Kaplinsky, Titchmarsh, Dan Baker. Now zzzzzz Jenas.

She was a very good footballer too, before she went into the media.
She also p@ssed off Leeds fans with a comment she made about Leeds so she went right up in my estimations.

She was a fantastic player. And her comment about Leeds was absolutely spot on. They absolutely benefitted from the break to recharge their players and allow them to go again for the final run in. I know that upset them, but it was absolutely true.

And for all the talk of how good the Leeds team who won the Championship was, they matched our record from 16/17. But for scoring 3 goals more and conceding 5 goals less, we had the same record of 28 wins, 9 draws and defeats each. They're not all the all conquering team they seem to have thought they were.

Queen of the Sport no doubt.

As ridiculous as your posts about her always are, credit to that post!

Good luck to her as a presenter of FF, where she'll probably do well. If it means she's used less as an analyst, I for one will consider that a bonus. In that role she's repetitive, vague and seldom tells me anything that isn't bleedin' obvious (and that rasping squawk of a voice reminds me too much of Priti Patel's).

Karen Carney is much better, but not quite as telegenic, while Emma Hayes is an excellent pundit, although as an extremely successful manager, you'd expect her to be. And yet Alex Scott is on every programme going, while Hayes appears only occasionally. But then Hayes isn't as good-looking as Scott, which might lead a cynic to think that there's something other than pure ability at work here.

You forgot Stacey Dooley, she seems to be on everything at the moment.

I think that the last time I watched Football Focus Bob Wilson was the presenter, so not fussed who presents the show.

With the BBC seemingly only having two presenters, I wonder how long it will be before Alex Scott and Rylan Clark-Neal are snapped up to present BBC Breakfast and The One Show to complete their take over of the BBC.

Come now, you're being unreasonable. You've forgotten Romesh Ranganathan.

Unless I'm being whooshed, doesn't she already present The One Show sometimes?

Couldn't agree more. I don't think she's a good presenter. She has come across as being pretty unconvincing and seems to spend more time with her banter between presenters than on focusing on the subject matter. Karen Carney on the other hand just focuses on the football, and occasionally slags off Leeds:):lolol:
I wonder whether Scott would get the work she does if she wasn't attractive, which she obviously is.

Employing Rylan Clark-Neal is, sadly, playing into the defund the BBC mob's hands. He needs to be sent back to C4 immediately.

Do you have the same issue with Dan Walker?

actually no, because I think Dan Walker is a much better presenter. Just like I think Clare Balding a better presenter she even managed to make Crufts dog show watchable!

The job of presenting a TV program is not an easy one, some people make it look effortless and make watching almost anything enjoyable experience, David Attenborough, Gary Lineker, Clair Baldwin, Naga Munchetty, Andi Peters, Moira Stewart, Graham Norton plus numerous others. There are some that actually aren't very good at it (imo) Rylan Clark-Neal, Alec Scott are two that spring to mind

My "issue" with Ms Scott is not as you seem to be alluding to her ethnicity or gender but her ability to do the job. Plenty on here comment on other pundits and presenters abilities frequently , Graham Souness as a pundit just sends me to sleep, an example of an awful TV personality . I and others can criticise his performance on TV but we cant do the same with Alec Scott?

I don't care what race, gender, sexuality, or any other characteristic a presenter has other than whether or not they can do the job and make watching a program enjoyable.

As long as the presenter doesn’t spout Bollocks and is knowledgeable about their subject I couldn’t really care a jot about their ethnicity or gender!

I wouldn’t say no to Alex cooking my breakfast either.

Your post sums up how it’s all about opinions, always has been, always will be. Putting to one side any allegations of misogyny every time someone dares dislike the work of a female presenter.

I know we’re here to talk about Scott, but regarding your attempt at a definitive dichotomy.

Souness - I love his Sky work, a brilliant player, like Gary Neville and Roy Keane he has the touch of the quiet assassin in assessing football incompetence. Specialists at the highest level, winners, who simply know what they’re talking about.

Jamie Redknapp is the one in that team who’s an irritant. He confuses quantity with quality, talking over everyone else.

Balding and Attenborough are amazing. Balding came into her own at the London Olympics, so personable with no ego.

Dan Walker’s silliness is on far too much and Gary Lineker is dull.

Norton’s charismatic, but after decades of his onscreen giggling and touchy-feely interviewing, I’m simply bored of the same old.
