I realise that now...all I'll say in my defence is that I listened to it to death about 10 years ago and, like too much of anything, it put me off it a bit. I had the same thing happen with sandwich spread and cider (not mixed together).

'Dark side of the Moon' Pink Floyd. Hadn't listened to it for ages, indeed I don't even own a copy now, but I watched a programme on it on TV a few weeks ago. What a brilliant album.

A year or so ago at a friends I heard 'Hamberburger Concerto' by Focus and 'Selling England by the Pound' by Genisis. Two absolutely superb albums: the early-mid 1970s was easily the best, most diverse and most creative era for British music. What a pity punk had to come along a reduce everything to three guitars and a drum going thump bang crash. Thank heavens for ambient trance.

Oddly enough, I've just dug out Beastie Boys, Ill Communication and Check Your Head and have been listening to both all morning.

a solid gold 5* classic album that fully deserves a place alongside Screamedelica, Stone Roses, Queen is Dead, Bandwagonque, Wonderland et al as the cream of British music

Oasis and Blur - MY HAIRY ARSE - the introduction alone to 'She Said' is far more essential than their entire oevre
