Van Morrison '68-'74 was a very decent run ending with his very best in my view:

Astral Weeks
Moondance
His Band & the Street Choir
Tupelo Honey
St Dominic's Preview
Hard Nose the Highway
Veedon Fleece

The democratic and free EU
The Top
The Head on the Door
Kiss me, kiss me, kiss me
Disintegration
Wish

If you could have a run of Faith, Pornography, The Head on the Door, Kiss me..., Disintegration

...and pretend The Top never happened, then I'm in.

But for me, The Top is - well - just a wee bit sh1t, and pollutes an otherwise unimpeachable series.

Would go with Rubber Soul, Revolver, Sgt Peppers, White Album, Abbey Road but, unfortunately, there's the Magical Mystery Tour and Yellow Submarine getting in the way. Can we exclude novelty film albums?

Been trying to find a Hip-Hop list that deserves to be put forward with the lists on here. Kanye & Eminem fall short, Notorious B.I.G only ever released 2 albums, 2Pac is let down by All Eyez on Me. Jay Z, despite his 296592 albums never has a solid run of 5 good albums. However, it finally dawned on me that there was one obvious artist who released 5 classics in a row.

Nas.

Illmatic (1994)
It Was Written (1996)
I Am... (1999)
Nastradamus (1999)
Stillmatic (2001)

Kanye's an absolute shoe in without 808's...

MBDTF is an absolute masterpiece.

Can we pretend that Rank isn't a live album?

The Smiths
Meat is Murder
The Queen is Dead
Strangeways
(Rank)

A seamless transition from one band to another:
Unknown Pleasures, Closer, *, Movement, Power, Corruption & Lies, *

* depending on you count, or would want, Still; if not, replace with Low-Life

Yes we can. They left a very pretty corpse indeed. Also a disproportionate number of non album singles gives them a bye. I may be a tad bias...

30th anniversary of the release of 'Brothers in Arms' in May this year and I've been asked to play the sax in a tribute concert, should be good.

I'm not crazy about Graduations either. Don't get me wrong, I like Graduation (and 808's too) but wouldn't class them as classics, however if you take out those two then he must have one of the best 5 album runs imaginable. College Dropout, Late Registration, Late Orchestrations, MBDTF, Yeezus. Even if you count LO as a live album, which it technically is, then you could count Watch The Throne as a Kanye album and its still just as strong.

It's a shame most people can't look beyond his c*ntish behaviour, as he's one of the most talented artists of my generation. I also really like the single he released recently, Only One ft Paul McCartney. Really excited for his next album which is supposed to be coming out this year.

I'd be tempted to remove the "one of." Even as someone who dips in and out of hip-hop, I recognise that he has an immense ear for a single, is conceptually brilliant and increasingly experimental. I suspect he'll be one we look back on in 20 years time as a "game-changer" (hate that phrase)

He is a class A bell end though.

Faith No More - Introduce Yourself, The Real Thing, Angel Dust, King For Day, Album of the Year.

(I fully expect their comeback album to be awful.)

I saw them on the Introduce Yourself tour at my uni. I think there was 50 or so people in the crowd. I also saw them tear a sold out Marquee club apart shortly later and after The Real Thing was released with Mike Patton now on vocals. The opened with from Out of Knowhere; it was nuts and patently obvious they were going to be something quite special.

Beastie Boys would be another hip hop group in with a shout of meeting the criteria:

1986 Licensed to Ill
1989 Paul's Boutique
1992 Check Your Head
1994 Ill Communication
1998 Hello Nasty

Paul's Boutique is an interesting one. It was wildly criticised upon release but now it's seen as a classic. Best described as way ahead of its time IMHO.
