'Albion will target Chris Hughton to be their new manager if they cannot land Tony Pulis'

Season's greetings, Brighton fans. Pulis is an incredibly vain man, obsessed far more with his own percieved standing than the fortunes of the club he manages. It's almost as if the only reason he wants his team to win is because it gives him more leverage.

For better or worse, and patently worse, Pulis seems to have become the default one-stop-shop million quid option for chairmen who want their club to not go down the pan following a very poor first half of the season. Out the window go all niceties about playing entertaining football, its all about dig deep and win dirty. How did it ever come to this? Why did everybody suddenly yearn to be STOKE? Sake! ???

I am chuffed with the high calibre of managers we are being linked with. We have very good, proven managers such as Hughton and Pulis, then exciting coaches such as Sherwood, Robinson and Rosler. I for one would be happy with any of them. People moaning about conservative football need to get a grip! We have just spent our most successfull period in ages passing teams to death and whilst people moaned, they would take those days back at the drop of a hat!

Meh!

Dick Knight always had a list of 'name' managers applying whenever the job became available at Withdean. As he'd tell anyone who cared to ask.

Are you not happy with them? I would say this is the best list of candidates we have had for a good while. With Knight it was all smoke and mirrors, I do beleive we have a real chance of landing managers who know how to get to the Premier League for the first time.

The dullest appointment we could make. Will not get people bak through the turnstiles. It's Pullis or Sherwood only for me

Do YOU know the shortlist? I certainly don't. Bet your life it'll be all the usual list of out of work suspects tho

Would be a MASSIVE step up from Clueless, but would much prefer Pulis TBH.

We are limited. All the names we would most want are happily employed elsewhere.

Ok, just popped back on here for the first time in months, so may as well give my two penneth.

Pulis would be my first choice, I personally don't mind the baseball cap. A certainty to keep us in the division and probably top half. Not a popular choice, but I wouldn't mind Mowbray myself, as a second choice - not exciting but steady. Don't rate Houton much, but I know he has experience.

Don't understand for a second why anyone in our position would want Sherwood - complete shot in the dark and we don't have millions to spend on building "his" team. Even if we did and it started to work he'd be off at the first chance.

Might be boring but we need some experience to get ourselves out of the hole we've got into, but it's not too late by any means.

No thanks. His record isn't that great.

He actually didn't get Norwich promoted, he took them down. And at Newcastle and Birmingham he benefitted from strong squads in the Championship that had just been relegated from the Premier League.

Pulis is my first choice but if not him then I would rather have Mcdermott than Hughton.

And contrary to what I've seen written in this thread and others, Pulis is actually a decent man from first and third hand experience. He wouldn't be the first person to fall out with Parrish would he?

I would be absolutely delighted if we managed to get him before West Brom/Leicester/Hull snap him up.

The thought of Hughton instead of him is a very depressing one.

Hughton has been my first choice all along, as I think Pulis will wait for a job in the Prem.

CH will stabilise the team, and we'd recover to mid-table. A solid, reliable manager with bags of experience at this level, unlike either Sherwood or Robinson. In fact it's many years since Pulis has been at this level.
