'Albion will target Chris Hughton to be their new manager if they cannot land Tony Pulis'

Hughton would still be a huge improvement on Hyypia so I wouldn't complain too much. Pulis is the best though so get him. It really is that simple.

Hughton would be a great appointment and was my preference in the summer.

He knows the Championship well, been promoted from it, is respected in the football world and will know how to do business in the transfer window.

Much better choice than Pulis or McDermott.

Bloom is surely too shrewd not to balls this up again by going for a dullard like Hughton......isn't he? ???

A dullard who got an unfancied Norwich promoted, an average Brum into 4th and of course the Toon as record breaking champions.

Hmmm...I wonder if his name was Christino Hughtinho whether you would change your mind!

Hughton has form in the Championship so would be my second choice behind Pulis.

I have a nagging feeling pulis has overachieved at his last couple of jobs and is due a duffer.

All of those teams had a significantly better budget than we have, a 5 year old could have got that Newcastle team promoted. Norwich fans hate him as he bored them to tears.

Agree with this, apart from it was Lambert who got Norwich promoted, but did finish 11th with them in the Prem in his first season.

Anyone who keeps us out of the bottom three this season is fine by me; dullard, baseball cap or whatever.

Totally ridiculous non story.

If Houghton were appointed then he would know he was not first choice?

Does Naylor actually know that Pulis is TB's 1st choice? I doubt it.

Pure speculation to fill a few column inches.
What does seem to be clear is that a possible hurdle of a director of football overseeing signings has been removed to make the job more attractive to an experienced manager.

Whatever happens, good luck to whatever team NJ selects tomorrow. 3 points please!!

Let's be honest, who could have predicted Oscar or Hyppia as our last 2 managers? Would hope Tony would come up with a 'safe' option, but he doesn't have a good track record in this area...

Based on just my own personal opinion and nothing to do with football neither thanks, I don't like Pulis based on wearing baseball caps, & I just don't like Hughton based purely on I just think he sounds boring and uninspiring. There you go honestly sometimes people just don't like other people and will instantly take a disliking to them and very rarely can you be persuaded otherwise and on both counts I can't see me changing my opinion, but hey who cares what I think.
Quite right.

I'll take Pulis because he was born in Pill and is a Newport County hero. His talents as a manager are for others to consider.

Experience at Norwich is worth nothing, btw. The place is so FLAT.

PS: Pulis is a Lamb Chop. I'd sooner have an Haggis (if you can catch one!)

I've come to re-evaluate my opinion of Mark McGhee. Admit to being overly harsh on him at the time, like many of us. I'd quite like to see him given the chance to do a job for the remainder of the season now we've got a level playing field. Could do a lot worse. IMHO, like. He'd certainly tell it to the board like it is, which is exactly what they need telling at the moment. No more Yes Men.

Season's greetings, Brighton fans. Pulis is an incredibly vain man, obsessed far more with his own percieved standing than the fortunes of the club he manages. It's almost as if the only reason he wants his team to win is because it gives him more leverage.

In the unlikely event that his demands do not put Bloom off from the outset, I think Gus Poyet-like dictator alarm bells will be ringing in his ears. In the even more unlikely event that this unholy alliance be consummated, I would expect Pulis to be off at the first opportunity.

I think Bloom has decided he needs to give his new manager more scope to implement his methods, but not expose himself and his massive investment in BHAFC to a vanity manager like Pulis, Poyet or Redknapp.

Hughton would be a safe, if not underwhelming appointment. Relegation most likely avoided, and a moderate playoff push in the future, but perhaps not the heights of those Gus bus years. Does Tony consolidate with Hughton, or go for broke to find his very own Eddie Howe?

Norwich fan at ours for christmas, says Houghton is very conservative and very rarely takes a chance when it's offered in a game.
