Mcphee substituted - Why does Mark McGee not like the guy - we did nothing when he came off at Swindon but he has scored 9 in 19.
Sounds like the same this afternoon since he has been off we are not looking as good. He holds the ball up well and him and Leon seem to form a good partnership
John Byrne says we have lost the impetus - Can't see what MM is doing tactically since he has been here
Where was piercy?.I know this always crops up but he wasn't even on the bench. Why is everyone so desperate for Oatway back.Piercy scores 2 goals out of nothing on his 2 starts at Withdean and so he gets dropped.I bet Oatway gets a run in the team and dosn't score all season. What about Hart?,when is he going to start scoring?.As soon as i heard the line up i Knew what was coming, give me flack but if mcghee plays this line up we will finish bottom half.
That was one of the worst performances of the season (and let's face it, there have been some pretty shocking ones).
I still can't work out what bloody formation we were trying to play. In the first half we had absolutely no width so Leon was stuck out on the left wing for most of the time.
Mcghee took off Mcphee and said he had a very poor game but he wasn't that bad and we certainly didn't have anyone better on the bench.
He also said he thought we did enough to win. What planet is he on?? There keeper made 2 saves all match and we created absolutely nothing apart from that. Roberts, on the other hand, made 2 or 3 world class saves. Oldham deserved it more than us if anything.
We looked an absolute shambles today. Mcghee keeps saying we need a striker. Maybe true but we need others as well - we create bugger all every single game.
Not one of our best days this season, to be sure, but we battled away and got a point, more dour than dire I'd say.
It would have been good to have Piercy available because the midfield never quite clicked today.
Oldham turned out to be better side than many had given them credit for, they looked to play football and their passing and movement was very good. I know people keep saying Division 2 is crap but it still has teams like this in the botton half capable of good away performances. Although their right winger was the best player on the pitch besides the 2 keepers, Oldham lacked a bit of devil up front otherwise they could have taken this game.
In the first half although we were being outpassed I thought we at least managed to get the ball in dangerous positions. Zesh in his farewell had a decent game, I think he has been unfairly criticised at times.
Once Zesh was taken off, I thought both McGhee and the team really lost it. We lost any shape and energy and were fortunate to get the point in the end.
Charlie struggled with some of the basic skills, he was lucky that it was Zesh that was replaced, and we missed Jonesey's go-forward down the left. Gary Hart, though, I thought did a good job, one of our better players. Out full-backs going forward looked very average.
McPhee really struggled with no service and some of the ref's interpretations and it was probably the right thing to try someone else. Leon was the class apart and barely put a foot wrong. Unlucky that the Oldham keeper also had a very good game. We could have stolen it at the end with that chance but it would have been a steal.
Ben Roberts was the only reason why we are not discussing a defeat, his three saves were unbelievable, they belong in any class of football you care to name.
One of the worst refs you'll see, and one of the linesman was just as bad. Good that they didn't cost either team the game, it could have happened.
You have to look at the positives, when under the cosh in the scond half, the defence and Ben in particular rose to the occasion.
McGhee has a lot of work to do and a big headache in midfield, particularly with Jones out for the next 4. Bloody hell we need the injured guys back soon!
I don't know how many games you've seen Bald Gull but that wasn't the worst I've seen.
It could have gone either way and a draw was the fairest result.
Piercy is injured (I asked about that on the phone-in) but I feel there is still too much experimentation in selection at present to get the 'right' combination.
It's almost like everybody can have a turn until McGhee finds what he wants.
It's unsettling for the players (although competition for places is a good thing) and they haven't the confidence or belief in themselves at the moment to win a game like today.
If we had scored one goal we would then have gone on to get two or three.
We are an average side at the moment and Mcghee has got to do a rebuilding job, like M.Adams had to do.The team has to move on.Still ending up in a play off place will give us hope and that is defineately not out of our capabilities because other sides are so poor in the league aswell.Once it is down to the play offs anything could happen. Poor boring non event today. Why we didn't have anyone on left side of midfield was a mystery. Ben Roberts MOM sums it up.But I am not to down hearted and will be at QPR next week hoping.
I'm not feeling that great and was in two minds about going I wish I had not bothered and stayed at home!! It was woeful and very frustratring to watch as we seemed to run out of ideas. Mcghee said he took Mcphee off as he didn't get the balls he went for which surprised as he seemed to work very hard to me. Going by that performance I can't see us getting a result at QPR.
* we need someone scary up front. Defenders can too easily put Knight and McPhee in their pockets.
* what will we do when Yeates goes back, as he is the only player who seems capable of producing that "something special" that will win a game.
* can we do something about the Bermuda Triangle in the middle of the pitch that Rehman spent most of the first half floundering about in, then Yeates fell into once Rehman went off.
