Skint Records have extended their long-running shirt sponsorship deal with Albion for a further two years.

The Brighton-based record label have agreed a new six-figure deal that will last until the end of the 2008 season, making it nine consecutive seasons in all, believed to be a record for a club shirt sponsorship.

Chairman Dick Knight said, "The iconic Skint logo has become as much part of our shirt as the club badge itself, giving the shirt a unique personality. Through the ups and downs they have shown true support for the club and we're very grateful to Norman (Cook) and Skint for reaffirming this special relationship.

Cook, aka Fatboy Slim, said "This is an emotional attachment that we can't seem to let go. It is a commitment of the heart in the future of the Albion which I am very pleased to make".

Skint managing director JC Reid added, "We are delighted to continue what has been such a fruitful relationship. We are very proud of our City and its football club.

Instead of the Skint logo, next seasons shirts will say 'Bongo Mag', the name of the new band that Skint have just signed.

"We would also like to pay tribute to the continuing dedication of club and fans to the cause of the new ground at Falmer, still the biggest challenge facing the Albion."

Brighton restaurant Donatello will again be sponsors on the reverse of the new shirts.

Knight added, "It's great news that Donatello, another of our local friends, want to keep backing the Albion."

At the risk of Meldrewing this thread, would it be too much to ask for a home shirt next season that doesn't look like they ran out of blue two thirds of the way down and an away shirt that's a slightly better colour than maroon?

Well the Maroon still has another year to run
