Being serious, for a moment, I am not getting my hopes up that they will be quality at this level. And certainly not immediately. I think it will take at least a few months of regular football to settle. Will the fans give them time though? Arismendi, for example, would turn out to be brilliant in my opinion if he started training with us now and then played regularly for 6 months.

But back to drooling about their flairness

Sorry if I can't get too excited about signing a heap of foreign mercenaries using us for there own purposes.

How is it any different to an English player using his time with us to put himself in the shop window (as many have done down the years)?

I have to admit to being a bit uneasy about this. Many agreed that the flood of average foreign players is causing problems for the English game and here we are, adding to the problem. There is no doubt that these two are coming here to try to move on to bigger better clubs than the Albion, they know nothing about our history and struggles and will move on at the first opportunity, or if they are crap, they will disappear back to South America.

Might as well get rid of the youth team set up now and save some cash if this is the route we are going.

It is MILDLY exciting but worth remembering that Arismendi cost 2 million and was mostly pants and the previous South American, Turienzo was 100% pants.. Gonna hold back on getting excited until I see that they can adjust to the battlefield that is League 1

Turienzo was signed on the back of a video of him playing and a dodgy recommendation from an agent. These two guys have been actually scouted & watched by Gus and his assistant playing in the Argentinian league. Thats the big difference. In Gus we trust....

Sorry if I can't get too excited about signing a heap of foreign mercenaries using us for there own purposes.

So is Poyet a foreign mercenary who we should not have signed too? If Gus has been to Argentina and watched them then I will trust him rather than moaning. Also since when were two signings a heap?

I reckon Gus must have swung the deal by showing them some pictures of Withdean, in comparison to the first stadium on the clip it is like Wembley!

Just because lots of other clubs have lots of foreign players, doesn't make it right. How has it benefited the game in England to flood the leagues with average foreign imports? Many clubs spend too much on players wages and are heavily in debt, yet other clubs still follow like moths to a light, is that the right way to run a football club?
I'm not saying I expect players to have their whole careers at one club, Sparrow it obviously an exception having spent 11 years at Scunny which I find refreshing, but it would be nice if they were good enough to move the club forward and stay with us as the team progresses for a few years, but sadly I guess this is unlikely to happen these days.

don't think we need to worry about this, as gus showed his commitment to the youth prospects in the last few games of the season with dunk, caskey and the keeper all getting some action. i reckon they'll be involved next season

These 2 lads may or may not do well, but have you not read how bloom intends to run the club financially. Your citing money issues without knowing the facts and I do not remember us paying huge fees to anyone recently. The were free agents. If these lads were Irish you would of said nothing about their nationality. Should we not have dicker either then?

Why does it have to benefit the game in England? As far as I am concerned, football is simply about enjoying watching the Albion play. End of story. I really couldn't care less what passports the players have back at home.

National teams are just a sideshow that are completely overhyped in England. I wonder if winning the cup in '66 actually harmed English football, because since then the bigwigs at the FA have only been interested in winning it again so they can get a gong from the Queen (gawd bless 'er). They even used the national team as a reason for setting up the Premiership.
