Hammond should be going for something getting close to a million but with his contract being up we will be lucky to get 100k.

Adam el-Abd will be leading Brighton out at Falmer, as Albion Captain.

The way things are going, he,ll be captain, defence, midfield, striker and trainer.

You missed my point I would rather Hammond stay and if anybody goes it be Knight as I do not think that with him still in charge we will ever be able to afford Falmer. Hopefully DK will retire on his laurels and hand over to somebody else, dont ask me who, before all the good work he has done in the past is clouded by his actions now.

Clouded by what 'actions'?

Keeping our club, which in case you hadnt noticed is losing around £1 million a year, on a sound financial footing?!!

Hand over to who for fvcks sake? As you virtually admit there is nobody to 'hand over' to!!

Why do you think we wont be able to afford Falmer under Knight - do you really think he and the co-directors have sunk so much cash into this project just to let it sink into the mud?

An answer please?

If you read another thread last night you would see that tip top, who ever he is, apparently knows and speaks with the Blooms says that they are disturbed by the team selection etc which would suggest tht they would be reluctant to carry on putting in money. Norman Cook has apparently said that he is not putting anymore in. DK hasnt got it to put in. If you was a bank manager looking to loan the club in excess of 30m would you consider them a sound viable investment now.

Everything that DK does now seems to be etched in critisicm from supporters and his popularity is dropping fast, if it continues apart from the TLOs of this board who can see no wrong in him, the vast majority will be calling for new people to take over, that is why there was so much hype and hope when it was suggested that David Gold may be interested. All the good that DK has done in the past will be pushed aside, never to be forgotten but classed as yesterdays news.

I have to say, I'm remaining optimistic! I honestly think this could all be resolved if DK invited the agent and Hammond to meet him in his office and discuss it rather then discussing it through the media.

And it's got nothing to do with the player dragging negotiations into the Transfer window before his contract expires under the pretext of wanting to play Championship football and thereby putting pressure on the club for an inflated deal?

Your view is totally simplistic and to be honest, irritating at this time in the morning.

This is the Bloom's that got Mcghee the sack, and had him replaced with DW. The Bloom's are never happy by the sounds of it. People complain about DK intervering with team selection yet it would appear that the Bloom's are the guilty party. So why doesn't one of the Bloom's take over as Chairman ???? I suspect that they know which side their breads butter'd on.

As for Norman Cook, I supsect his popularity isn't as big as it was and so he doesn't have as much cash as he used too.

Finally, I can't believe that people believe Hammond and his agent and not DK. Let's have a quick look shall we? Hammond suddenly decides that he's going to play hard to get when he's negotiating a new contract ... when he's on a Bosman. Personally he would be f**king mad not to leave. He's going to get a bigger wage, and larger signing on fee and will be playing for a championship team. What's the big choice ... you wouldn't see my arse for dust. Footballers have no loyalty, the can't afford to, neither can there agent. Football is a there job, football clubs are their place of work, not the love of their life. There is no way that DK can compeat with that !!!

You idiot. I rate Dean Hammond but, as with other players, nobody is bigger than the club. If Hammond wants to play in the Championship then we are better off getting money for him now than losing him for free in the summer. Or would you rather we became another Luton by offering ridiculous terms to all our players (remind where they are now).

If Hammo's going to go, then I hope goes soon so we could perhaps use the money to sign someone else, rather than leaving it down to the wire and not leaving us time to sign anyone.

Not quite sure what DK has done wrong on this one.

Hammond is not signing as HE wants to leave, nothing has been said about the terms of the contract not being good enough. Only talk of ambition and Hammonds desire to play in the Championship.

DK looks like he has done everything he can, Hammonds refusal to sign is based on hiss own agenda of getting himself a better club and a better level of football, which is his choice.

The fact that people still want to blame this on DK shows the level of ignorance of some on this board, i'm not saying that Dick is an angel, but i believe that on this one his hands are tied.

I don't think he will be sold, as i think Hammonds agent has one eye on a nice big signing on fee in the summer and will scupper and move that we force, unless of course it is a very very attractive offer for Dean.

Probably because - on this occasion - he has done nothing wrong at all. We can't compete with championship club wages and that is the fact of the matter.

We have no money, and a temporary stadium which we can't even come close to filling. The club is dying on its arse until Falmer is built, and wantaway players are a fact of life for a club that is clearly not a great payer.

As for the player himself, personally I just don't rate him all that highly to be honest. He's just not good enough for the Championship, IMO.

How soon is now?
I'm not Hammonds biggest fan, but it'll be a shame when he leaves. I really can't see him staying beyond the next 8 days. Lets get all we can for him and move forwards - we've lost big names in the past and battled on, as a club its what we do. And for the forseeable future its what we'll continue to do. DK is doing the best he can with the resources he has - Give the guy a break!!

As for Hammond - I guess I wish him well, and if he signs for Colchester(??) we'll see him back at Withdean next season

There is no case as he's over the age limit so goes on a free at the end of his contract. We have to settle for the best we can get before then.

He has talent but is inconsistant. if he was serious about the Championship then, as captain, he should have been driving this team on to win in every game. But just how many games has he taken and dictated the play?

It would be nice if he stayed, a local lad and 9 years coming through the ranks, but, if he want's to follow O'c, Bas, Bertin etc then fine. Seema like he won't be leading Albionout at falmer.
The difference is he is a local boy and he's come through the ranks. That must be worth something (it certainly does to me). He must have Bas's situation in mind, where it appears the agent can't come up with a better deal than the Albion offered him.however, if he holds out for the summer he can trouser a proportion of the transfer fee a club would have been willing to splash, as a "signing on" fee.
I am not hopeful.

Correct me if I'm wrong but was the first story not from Hammond's agent via Naylor in the Argus stating his desire to play in the Championship. Knight and the rest of the staff have ALWAYS been very good at keeping transfers and contract discussions out of the media, which is more than can be said for the player's agents.

It's clear Knight is going to get a lot of misdirected abuse from this but what else can he do apart from offer a contract that is at a level that the club can deal with at this time and wait for an answer either way. If Hammond had flat out rejected the offer he would have been gone already but he seems to have been stalling and we can't have that, considering our financial position (plus it causes unrest in the dressing room). Poeple need to realise that us, of all clubs, cannot be held to ransom by players as for the moment we have our backs to the wall, financially. Looks at clubs like Luton, Bournemouth, Port Vale (?) and Swindon all going into administration due to overspending! Well we can't afford to even get close to that possibility otherwise we are screwed, not haivng a ground or any assets or anything. The fact that we are so close to Falmer makes it all the more incredible that people are still doubting Knight and the excellent job he's doing as our Chairman (whose sole purpose, really, is to make Falmer a reality).

And that's the longest post about the club you'll see from me for a while.
