...but don't worry, it's only because of the VAT drop

Albion Cut Ticket Prices | Brighton and Hove Albion | News | Latest | Latest

By Paul Camillin

Albion are cutting ALL ticket prices from Monday, following chancellor Alistair Darling's 2.5% VAT reduction. The club will cut all adult and concessionary tickets by 50 pence, across the board, while a family ticket has been reduced by £1.

Managing director Ken Brown commented, "The VAT on the most expensive tickets will fall by about 50 pence or less, but we felt it would be easier to knock 50 pence off the price of all tickets, right down to the £1 tickets for under-10s in the family stand."

Meanwhile the club are holding two special 10% discount days during December on Monday 8th and 15th, as the club is unable to reduce prices on over 2500 lines available in the Seagull Shop.

Brown added, "To deduct 2.5% on the two-thousand-plus items on offer in the Seagulls Shop would represent a huge amount of work for our staff at our busiest time of year - but we want to pass on this saving to our fans straight away therefore, we are offering supporters two special discount days in the run up to Christmas."

Albion are unable to pass on the discount retrospectively to season-ticket holders for matches after 1st December, as these were purchased last summer. However, Gold, Blue and Young Seagulls members, who already qualify for Seagulls Shop discount, will receive a bonus 20% discount on both days.

New ticket prices are as follows:

North Stand Centre
Adults: £26.50
Senior Citizens: £18.00
Under-16s: £16.50

North Wings

Senior Citizens: £18.00

South Wings
Adults: £23.00
Senior Citizens: £15.00
Under-16s: £13.50
Students: £16.50

East Stand
Adults: £23.00
Senior Citizens: £15.00
Students: £16.50
Under-16s: £13.50

Additional

It's a grand gesture, but little joy for STH's then!

Even less joy for 3yr STH!

But when it goes back up next year, depending on the month it happens, you'll make it back! AS you'll buy your ST at 15% and then see half the season when its back higher again.

Agreed 3yr STH are a bit buggered, unless Gormless Brown raises it above the 17.5% which it is now, in which case they will also be okay:thumbsup:

Yeah i know - i am a 3yr STH, so i was grateful for the 3 yr fixed rate. The club do their best, but it's impossible for them to please everyone...

And two year STH as well..........

Still just one of those things and also the season tickets were cheaper in comparison.

Is this the return of the student ticket. Or the club being misleading and actually referring to the under-21 ticket?

Misleading I would imagine.

Is this club ever going to give the season ticket holders any incentive - others people seem to get free travel reduced tickets and i know of a junior seagull that has had 4 tickets for 3 matches all for free - lovely and i get too pay more for everything i want from the club - Great Work by the club (not)

You get to pick your seat for the season.

You get 'cheaper' seats for every League game

Preference on the 'occasional' big cup tie!

Two DVD'S per season

Discount at the club shop

I think that's pretty reasonable.

The free travel is available to all to Shrewsbury if you purchase your ticket by phone, post, or in person.

Is this club ever going to rid itself of people who moan just for the sake of moaning?

I'm a STH and don't feel the club does nothing for me when it offers Junior Seagulls free tickets-these are the people who will be paying full price one day if we get them hooked on the Albion early enough. I get 10% off all purchases from the club shop, am first in line for cup tickets and pay slightly less per match for my seat and I get to sit where I wanted. What else are you looking for?

Except there were two of the worst games this season - they saw nothing to attract them back

Hindsight is great isn't it?

If you have a crystal ball and can predict what games we will play well in, give the club a ring, I'm sure they'll be keen to know:thumbsup:

So the club can guarantee quality of games in advance now? Why didn't you let them know that earlier, they might have been able to turn the season around...

I didn't even bother to respond as this has gotta be a windup.

All the major supermarkets who might have 80,000 stock lines and big retailers have organised this by deducting 2.14% on VAT applicable items at the tills. This will allow them to change the prices listed on the shelves gradually over a period of time as it is impractical to do it straight away. From Monday you cannot charge VAT at 17.5% , only at the new rate of 15%.

Exactly. I am SICK of STHs whinging that the club don't do enough for them when for stumping up in advance they get a whole raft of benefits. I do feel that some (but not all) STHs aren't intererested in what's best for the club - they're more interested in protecting the value of their investment (hence the opposition to price reduction).

The Albion isn't a private club run for the benefit of a few thousand members and they've simply GOT to do more to encourage new or lapsed fans - unless people just want 2,3000 crowds at Falmer.

So PLEASE Jam the Man and other STHs, let's have no moaning that a massive 50P has temporarily come off the one-off price.

EDIT: Rant not aimed at people like you Nemesis (just read your post).
