That wasn't quite the reason he left but it was the excuse he gave.

The lack of facilities didn't seem to bother him too much when he took the job and put himself back "In the shop window" did it??

I'm sorry pal but from where I was there was more than a few "knuckle draggers" giving him a hard time.

He didn't have to do what he did.He was rubbing our noses in it.

It's easy to be positive about Falmer when you're 300 miles away and it doesn't affect you whether we get it or not.

True, the lack of a playing budget for the following season was also a major contributor.

He took over a good squad, but still used his nous to organise the team well (remember we were 4th when he arrived, and Champions when he left) to make us very difficult to beat without signing anything but a few loan players.

He is not an Albion hero, but at the same time did not deserve the abuse he got today.

Peter Taylor you are a disgrace!

How dare you get us promoted!

And as for Coppell! you nearly kept us up! (edit after the worst run in our history)

You both speak up for Falmer!

THAT IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH!

Taylor jumped ship as soon as he could because he thought something better would come his way.

Coppell, erm, errr,oh yeah jumped ship as soon as he could.

Both of them.Do you honestly think either of them really give a monkeys about Falmer?????

He did get us promoted.

So why abuse him if he has a pop at us?

Are we that thin-skinned that we can't take it any more?

Seems to me that some of our supporters are feeling the pressure of the Falmer decision and have forgotten our history.

Gritt came in and did a decent job, despite early antagonism.

Adams did a great job.

Taylor did a job, but it still needed to be done. Why can't people see that?

He's also astute enough to see that the limitations of Withdean were likely to militate against further success, and so he got out.

Who can blame him for that?

If we are going to give him stick, why shouldn't he bite back, he isn't stupid.

Good luck to you Taylor, you might yet be England manager.

And the fact that he wanted to become available when the assistant England manager stepped down straight after the World Cup - except that he didn't.
He waited until October by which time PT realised he would have to get himself a job and went to Hull.

I have had this confirmed to me by someone close to the circumstances and have typed it before in Nsc several times.

He had no intention of staying. He mentioned in a pre-match interview that he was promised the stadium within 18 months. He left in May and the planning permission was given two weeks later by 11 votes to 1.
At that point if there had been no objections the stadium would have gone ahead. PT didn't know there was going to be a public inquiry at that stage and neither did anyone else.

Err......yes. As professionals they would want the best facilities at all clubs I would imagine.

Only Micky Adams has really helped although Coppell has written some good stuff on our behalf.
I've never really heard that PT did anything to help.

Fair enough, England assistant manager or Withdean, can't have been an easy decision then:jester:

Taylor came here to get his face back in the public eye because he thought he'd get a job at the F.A.
It looked even better for him when he was the manager of a team that had just won their league.
I don't seem to remember Coppell turning down too many offers before he went to Reading.
As I've said somewhere else on here tonight it's very easy to be pro Falmer when you've got a nice new stadium,15-20000 gates every week and you're miles away and it doesn't really affect you.
All they do is pay lip service to it,I'm sure if Prescott turns it down neither of them will lose too much sleep.

I'm very happy for you.

In time however you will realise you are wrong

So, does that surprise you gerbil?

Cynical or not at least he did it, and I like to think that we won him over in the short space of time that he was with us, and that he really does think we deserve a new stadium.

Taylor couldn't deal with the budget so went straight away! we had time to appoint a new manager but went for the cheap option! (don't forget he had a torrid time at Leicester)

I genuinely think that Coppell did not rush into the Reading job. If he felt Falmer was on it's way he would have stayed!

The public inquiry hadn't started so Coppell wouldn't have known either way.

Hinshelwood wasn't the cheap option. The manager was to be the Cameroon World Cup manager who arrived at Gatwick to attend the press conference and changed his demands. He was told on yer bike and then DK panicked so he asked Hinsh to help him out instead of facing the press and telling them exactly what had happened.

Well if that's the case I suppose something good's come out of the Falmer saga dragging on and that's that we got rid of Coppell!!

The playing budget was a convenient excuse for Taylor as far as I'm concerned. He wanted the FA job and was making himself available.
As Yorkie said he gave it a few months and realised he wasn't going to get it so he had to take the Hull job.
