Ironic announcing the deal with an image of a Nike kit which had
I have to admit, I don't get the ire about Nike. I still play football and run etc, so buy a shirt occasionally for those purposes and I've never had a single issue with the quality of the shirts themselves. We can argue about the aesthetics until the sun goes down, but the quality of the shirts has always been fine for me.

Ideally, I prefer more blue than white on the shirts but given that all of our shirts are variations on a similar theme, there haven't been any that are total eyesores

They have produced a couple of horrrendous kits IMO, this being the absolute worst of all…

Hated that kit when it was released but it grew on me, probably because of the 6th place finish we had it so many happy memories.

Can’t stand this seasons home shirt, and I’m not sure a 6th place finish would change my mind either.

We get such a small amount for each shirt sale anyway, why would we want to share that with another retailer…
But that’s the point.

We’re blatantly on a low-tier deal with Nike. Small margins, limited distribution, template kits etc.

Leaving aside the hit on margins, there are obvious benefits to more-visible/international distribution.

Anyway, I’m sure the club has been negotiating a better deal - hence the messaging to fans around this season’s away shirt not being next season’s third. A threat to walk away, I’m sure.

What I find really weird is that these stores value their shelf space, therefore they will constantly review what they stock and in what quantity. Therefore I find it somewhat depressing that they clearly think it is 'worth' stocking a Leeds shirt in their Brighton store. So they must sell, which is a sad state of affairs.

I'd love to know the club's view on this. I don't buy the idea it is to generate more footfall at the Amex store, who would bother to go there apart from on a matchday when you can order online?
Yeah, but Leeds are the most massiveist club in the universe, so who could blame them?

And 400,000 training kits.
The 'new training kit every two months' thing is shit. They get the chance to be creative with it, but no, they just do a different colour template with a badge stuck on for £42. I don't get who is buying them but I guess someone must be. The only one I ever bought was the hyperturq one and that was because they never had stock of the away shirt.

Whatever you think of Leeds, their recent shirts are LUSH compared to ours (apart from the one with a cock on it).

Not really.
People spend a lot of money on the kit and training gear for themselves and their family. The yellow away kit cost me over a £100 for my son. Most of the training and clothing is bland and the kits seem to get worse quality. I guess it could be worse it could be Castore.
That's your choice though. No one is forcing you to buy the whole kit.

Well, I think there's probably an element of truth in that.

It would be interesting to know how the sales of Albion merchandise is split between "legacy fans", ie those of us who tend to live (or did live) locally-ish and go to games, and whatever the term is for the new, often international, fans.

Nike is by far the biggest sportswear brand in the world. That in itself doesn't mean it should be our choice, of course, but it may be the case that having a swoosh on the shirt makes it a more attractive proposition for many of these newer fans, many of whom will look to buy a shirt in lieu of not being able to make it to (m)any games.
I tried hard to be outraged about the deal.
I really did.
But I'm not.

No, I'm ambivalent. Not getting my knickers in a twist over a football shirt.

A few more worst things going on in the world! If the club went with another manufacturer then there would be a crowd moaning at that.
At the end of the day, no one is forced to buy it however, judging by sales they seem to be doing alright..
