I was chatting with my Grandad the other day, and have found out that my family has an interesting connection with the very earliest years of the club. My Great Grandfather ran the Albion Saloon, the barber shop where early Albion players used to get their hair cut (he gave the club a discount presumably to encouage business from the fans by having the players in his shop, an early form of product endorsment I guess).

Anyone else got any odd connections to the Albion?

My great grandad, Edgar Everest, has his photo in the History of the Albion book. Actually, it's the very first photo.

Edgar Everest - The father of pro football in Brighton.

Terry Connor's wife once looked after me for an afternoon in my younger days!

Also visited their house a few times for the occasional brew!

My old mans old house in Shoreham backed onto John Byrne's house and during a storm John's shed roof flew into my old mans garden!

I used to interview the former Stranraer manager Sanny McAnespie regularly when I was a newspaper reporter in Scotland about 10 years ago. I was gobsmacked when he told me he was an Albion player in the 1960s .... I was too young to remember him I think!

Also have a photo at home of Gordon "must score" Smith with my late gran and grandad at their old people's home in Shoreham ... apparently he had a relation living there!

I went to college with someone who went out with Stuart Munday. He was a very devout Christian.

And yet more tenuous links - I was at college with a mate of Stuart Munday's from Southend (the town, not the club!!)

I was also at the same college with Liz Hurley's cousin, but thats another story entirely!!
