Tranmere away, singing “get your notes out for the Scousers” whilst waving notes around.

Get your contactless phone app out doesn’t quite have the same effect!

Not a chant but I still miss half time at the Goldstone when the Argus fella wandered round with a board of lottery numbers and everyone shouted "get that board out the way" as we walked past.

It was funnier than it sounds. Obviously.

At Withdean we shouted 'get that board down' even though it didn't obscure any of the view. For old time's sake.

(Not sure there was even a board, to be fair).

I do remember a terrible Gillingham away match after we had returned to Withdean.

The game was rubbish and the atmosphere was non existent, even the songs never got going. The only thing audible was a bit of personal abuse between individual opposing fans.

Can't remember what prompted it, but a solitary Brighton responded 'Oh do #### off you ####, at least I haven't got a fridge in my front garden'

And if anyone remember the walk up to the ground, it was the most memorable event of the afternoon.

Charlie Zeevil!

In your norther slums, in your northern slums
You look in a dustbin for something to eat
You find a dead cat* and you think its a treat
In your northern slums.

*It was a cat in the 70s, but as more of the working classes became cat owners, it was changed to rat.

Miaow.

Back in the 1960s when I was a boy standing on the chicken run, I do remember one game when a man kept shouting out "Come on the twin towns!" I can't remember the match or the result, but that has always stuck with me. Never heard it before or since. Not sure whether it was something fans used to say in the 40s or 50s or whether he was just a bit simple.
