That was argus Fred. Not a chant but I still miss half time at the Goldstone when the Argus fella wandered round with a board of lottery numbers and everyone shouted "get that board out the way" as we walked past.
It was funnier than it sounds. Obviously.
For over 40 years I have always cringed when this is sung.... "all the lads and lasses..." FFS
Steve Gritt, Steve Gritt,
Stevie, Stevie Gritt,
He`s got no hair,
But we don`t care,
Stevie, Stevie Gritt.
Tried to get it going today.
Not a chant but I still miss half time at the Goldstone when the Argus fella wandered round with a board of lottery numbers and everyone shouted "get that board out the way" as we walked past.
It was funnier than it sounds. Obviously.
So during an era of songs that were racist, homophobic or those glorifying cop killers you cringed to a song where the actual words were used?
And thank you because that reminded me of late Dad who was a mate. That was argus Fred.
