That's it then - no way will he allow us to get KLL back. Even if he didn't want him he wouldn't allow him to come back to us.

How about a treble with Shane Warne coming out of retirement to captain the faultering Australian cricket team

Hmm... Warne's got a sharper cricketing brain than Ponting and, even at 40, is probably better than any other Aussie spinner. I'm not sure I'd welcome that one.

Replacing the "inexperienced" Hughton (twice FA cup winner, UEFA Cup winner as a player; Championship winner as a manager; coaching experience with Spurs - includes European games - and Newcastle currently 12th) with the experienced Pardew (won nothing as a player or manager - not counting play-off wins - managerial/coaching Reading, West Ham, Charlton and Southampton)

Pardew has only had one successful season in the Premiership, West Ham 05/06, finished 9th. Following season "Pardew was criticised after seeing West Ham through their worst run of defeats in over 70 years which included a League Cup defeat to Chesterfield"

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear.

f*** whether it's a good appointment or not if it ballses up our KLL chances as it may well do then it's awful news for us. Awful.

he's never liked us since we SMASHED Reading to the title 10 yrs ago or so and he'd said in the season they'd beat us comfortably. And he's ex Palarse.

By all accounts it's because he is the best (only?!) candidate who's willing to accept the contract that Ashley is insisting the next manager has - a (relatively) low basic wage, with the rest coming as bonuses for success. Also, no provision for a big payout for early termination etc.

As much as I think Hughton being sacked is a travesty, Pardew is an awful candidate for the job and that Ashley is a complete twat... I can't help but think that (if true), the terms of the contract are the way forward for players and managers. So many are overpaid when delivering nothing - it's a results-based business, so should be very easy to have most of the managers' and players' remuneration made up of performance & results bonuses. It would certainly keep the players on their toes and keep fans a bit happier through a bad run - knowing that the players / management are suffering financially and have a big reason to sort it out rather than pick up their £60k per week no matter what the result...
