Quite happy to see 5 match bans and would also suggest reductions in loyalty points as well. There is a massive difference between those that in the moment accidentally spill a bit of beer and those that deliberately and purposedly throw the beer in the air. As for the 'quiet word' approach, I very much doubt that will have any effect whatsoever. There are some fans who don't give a damn about their fellow fans. We had three idiots who decided to come out of exit 117 and stand by the rail blocking the view of several fans. They didn't move until we got the steward involved.

As for those arguing about Brighton stewards and Darren Balkham not having jurisdiction, what has that got to do with it as they are not being prosecuted by the legal system. The club have every right to take action against fans that affect the clubs reputation. Fans behaviour in the past did lead to English clubs getting a ban and whilst luzzing isn't in the league of hooliganism of the past, if it continued it could lead to sanctions for Brighton, especially if home clubs complain about their fans getting soaked.

Dont recal seeing any discussions on bans from Marseille. Wonder why the club didn't say/do anything following that game if it was such a concern to them, regadless of what the stewadrs did/didn't do at that game.

Presumably as no-one got ejected from the staidum for it in Marseille. It is the being kicked out by the Ajax stewards that seems to the trigger for being banned.

I don't for one minute think it is England fans that will suffer but it could be just Brighton fans. If it continued at every European game where beer is allowed, it could be one of two things, the most obvious and sensible would be to ban sale of alcohol in the ground and the extreme solution would be for BHA fans to be banned from the away games.

No one has said anything of the like. He does have jurisidiction over who he lets into his private business, i.e. the AMEX, though. Surely you must understand this?

One thing I will note was the Ajax stewards were incredibly aggressive throughout, at the end of the game while we waited for a friend (who has a disability) to go to the toilet they pushed us and actually marched another friend out of the ground. They also confiscated a bag of Werther's originals off my mum which was a bit weird. Not to start on the not letting anyone onto the concourse for 45 minutes even if you needed the toilet, think they also need a look at how their own operation works.

Yup. Utterly pathetic from the club. Either some goon has dobbed in, or they searched through the footage for identification. Madness. They even shared videos prmoting the ‘limbs’!

We get allowed beer in away end, we score 2 goals in a famous win, fans absolutely lose their heads and throw beer with the majority not caring, and the club do this. It is embarrassing and really f***ing poor. No, it wasn’t me, yes I know of the person who it was and they are shocked as everyone was having such a great time. Stewards there weren’t bothered, no one moaned!

It has got to the point where the club fail to shock me with their treatment of us at times, just yet another excuse to water down our support and treat fans like children. (Yes I know it is a bit immature to throw beer, but it certainly doesn’t warrant a ban ffs).

So folk not taken out by stewards at the time have been identified on CCTV for beer chucking and then banned? That really is taking it to a whole new level.

Think so, yes. They just received an email regarding it and asked to contact clib then they were told. That’s my understanding, I could be wrong as I only received small bits of info. Either way, club yet again being dicks over such small issues.

That is shocking, even based on my experiences and expectations of them. Bad enough that they automatically hand out bans based on an ejection from an away ground withoiut evaluation/consideration. For them to retrospectively review CCTV and see who they can ban is outrageous - can only assume that some fans with influence didn't like what they experienced, hence this approach.

Have to say I find the beer chucking annoying but there are ways of dealing with such matters without alienating some of your more dedicated fan base.

How anyone can be annoyed by being covered in beer when it was pissing down before the game and most likely already soaked. We WON, AWAY 2-0 IN AMSTERDAM. Get a grip. Yeh its not ideal, it happens at gigs all the time, more often a lot worse, my mate got covered in a pint of piss once. We cant drink in stands most of the time anyway so whats there to worry about.

Shit news for the person caught, totally seems OTT. 5 games and missing Athens is pretty harsh, especially the cost that is associated with it. However the club do need to do something, how about a beer awareness course and the dangers of luzzing plastic cups.

Watching the limbs video I think I see what might be the problem here. I’m sure if you’re holding a drink and you celebrate then the contents might spill, probably will, and that is likely to get yourself and those within touching distance. Getting banned for that would be way too harsh.
However, that video clearly shows cups travelling 20-30 rows down, that isn’t a ‘we scored - hooray - whoops’ moment. That is deliberate and probably premeditated. That does need to be dealt with.
