I'm glad he won, it does seem like an unfair contest given their respective physiques though ! It was AJ's to lose if he had got clobbered so by the sound of things he did everything right. You can win a fight with one punch but I tend to think that isn't really " Boxing " .

AJ fought the perfect fight against a man who hadn’t fully prepared. He now moves on to bigger fights. The heavyweight scene is looking good (although Dillian Whyte needs to sort out his weight, obviously the ukase drug issue played a part in his preparation and short notice).

I really think that was a bigger statement from AJ than it would have been to KO Ruiz. For the last six months critics, experts and fans have said AJ is done, many said to consider retirement and he had been found out. He can't box, he has no gas tank, he has no chin and now he can't even fight on the inside because Ruiz can do it better. He's done, you can't change your style in 6 months. All of this was stated almost as fact since the first fight. If AJ had outbrawled Ruiz this time people would have blamed Ruiz for being overweight and laughed at AJ, saying he's a one trick pony and using it as proof that he can't adjust, and can't change his style.


So what happens in this one?


AJ boxes rings around Ruiz, he looks fresh in the 12th despite constantly moving for the prior 11 rounds, he won the fight with his jab and boxed the boxer to death using his range, his stamina and his power to make Ruiz respect the jab coming at him. He caught the granite chinned Ruiz with a couple of shots that would have had other fighters on very shakey legs, but he danced back quickly and smartly to avoid the barrage that Andy was wanting to unleash. He just put on a clinic the majority said he was incapable of and out boxed the boxer.


If people after that still want to say "Wilder would kill him after that performance of running away" or "Fury would make him look like a bum after that" then you really just need to stop pretending to be neutral and accept you deeply dislike the lad, because he obviously isn't going to bring that same strategy he just employed to those two fights.

The opponent who clearly are his way through half of Mexico and didn’t take the fight seriously once the big bucks hit his bank account. Never had a chance coming in that fat.

Only Fury has the minerals to fight AJ.... Wilder is a bottler, he said before the fight if Ruiz wins he wants to fight him, now AJ won its the usual guff about him being the best, but there's no chance of him and AJ getting it on.

And whilst Wilder can't box he could easily knock AJ out if he grew a pair. Getting tired of his constant posturing whilst always running away.

No doubt Wilder has a devastating right hand but equally no doubt he's using every excuse to dodge actually fighting AJ. I hope Fury knocks him out
