Bad news - that will take it back about a year I'm guessing.

On the other hand it will prolong Martin Perry's employment ................................

As an Adur resident, you will know that the club has submitted a planning application for a new training ground and academy at Mash Barn Lane, Lancing. This application will be going to committee very shortly and having reviewed the application, we found that there are approximately 55 letters of objection. Some of the letters of objection are pro-forma, and some of them are duplicates after the revised plans were submitted.

We would like to make sure that Adur District Council is fully aware of the strong support in the area for our proposals and therefore we are writing to you to ask if you would be willing to send in a letter of support or register your support on-line.

The reasons for supporting the scheme should relate to material planning matters and can include any of the following points depending on which ones you can really relate to:

The proposed development makes use of an underused site on the edge of Lancing but retains a predominantly open and green aspect.
The proposal is well designed, of high quality however the existing and proposed landscaping to the boundaries will help to screen the development.
The economic benefits of the development including the creation of 100 full-time equivalent jobs.
The development will create potential for local businesses to be involved in the construction of the development including the steel frame and the infrastructure works – contracts which in total add up to in excess of £3 million.
It represents an investment in the area of some £30 million.
It will generate a contribution of some £1 million annually to Local GDP. During construction this is likely to be in excess of £3 million.
It will create opportunities for local businesses to win contracts to supply goods and support services to the development once it is complete.
It will deliver a range of community benefits, including use of classrooms, an indoor pitch, a 3G pitch and grass pitches.
Within the application are proposals to provide funding for the delivery of off-site community benefits; including a financial contribution to enable the construction of a 3G pitch with changing rooms and floodlighting, as well as the upgrading of existing leisure facilities.
It will help create aspiration amongst local youngsters leading to an increase the number of people becoming involved in sport within Adur district and beyond.
It will put Lancing and Adur on the map.
It is far better if you can write your own letter of support or register your support online using some of these headings. If you write your letter to be sent by post, it should be addressed to:

Mr Peter Barnett, Planning Case Officer, Adur & Worthing Councils, Portland House, Richmond Road, Worthing, West Sussex BN11 1LF
And headed up as follows:
Dear Sirs
REF: Planning Application No AWDM/0205/12 – Construction of a Training Ground and Football Academy for Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club with access from Mash Barn Lane
I am writing in support of the above application.
Then make your points.

If you wish to use the Adur Planning Portal the link is:
Simple Search
Click on this link and then type in the box provided the following planning reference: AWDM/0205/12.

Then click on comments and when you have filled in your name and address start with something along the lines of "I am writing in support of the above application".
Then make your comments using the bullet points above.

The report that will go to the planning committee is being finalised now so this is very urgent we have until 20th September to register our support. We would be very grateful if you can act as quickly as possible.

Many thanks for your support.

I hope people write in, particularly Adur residents- it wont be helpful at all if all Adur have received is objection letters. The PO often reads number of objections and number of support before decribing the application so the councillors will not be encouraged to hear so few have supported it...

Not a great fan of stickies myself - I tend to notice threads more if they keep bouncing to the top - but I will give it a go... and change the title to encourage the Adur residents!

I will certainly been sending my Approval for the training gound.

I Live close to where the training ground will be built and will be letting Adur know how beneficial this development will be to the immdiate area.

Just because a few lazy gits can't be arsed to spend an extra couple of minutes actually walking their dogs to lancing manor, should not stop this being built.

I am writing to show my support of the above planning application.
I believe that the building of a training facility at New Monks Farm will be a major benefit for Lancing. It will generate many jobs and inject millions of pounds worth of trade into local industries such as steel suppliers. The majority of the site will still be grass-covered (11 football pitches), so will not impact the environment in a significant way. As an ardent Brighton & Hove Albion supporter I may be accused of bias, but I genuinely cannot see any downsides to the plans, especially after the amendments suggested by nearby residents who did not agree with the previous plans. The training ground will help secure the long-term future of the football club and cement its status as a club for Sussex, not just for Brighton and Hove. The long-term future may involve promotion to the Premier League which will bring in large amounts of money from across the nation and overseas which can be put to future projects to improve the community.

If the New Monks Farm area isn't used for a high-tech, modern training facility which will help the local community and its football club, what will it be used for? Will travellers move in or will a second golf course be built in Lancing? Even if you are not in support of the training ground, surely you can see that it is the 'lesser of the evils'.

Just sent that :) :albion:
