A little harsh, he started the season really well. He’d have every right to feel hard done by for being dropped back then. Agreed he’s not done enough lately though.

Sadly I think he’s falling victim to our never-ending pursuit for progress. Wouldn’t be surprised to see the swap for Watson be floated again in the summer if they come up. They get a Prem ready winger with experience. We get a shiny new toy.
Who is Watson again?

He's a good player, but my thought's on him are that he's a goalscoring winger that offers little else. Physically he hasn't developed, not really quick enough to consistently beat full backs and not a passing creative player either. Not saying he doesn't offer any of those things, just not consistently enough.

He'd be a big success in France, Germany or Italy in a team finishing top 6. I think he's good enough to play at that level and just needs the games. Excellent to have in the squad but we're not big enough to have that level of player to sit happily on the bench.

Am I wrong in thinking that, when playing well, he can put in decent crosses as well? Clearly not been on form for a while though and, while we can speculate, it could be almost anything from 'inevitable bad patch for a young player', via 'long term niggling injury' through to 'fall out with manager and wants away'. I'd favour the 'just a bad patch/still getting used to the Premier league' theory and think he will.come good. But I am an eternal optimist when it comes to our young players. I mean, i am still 100% certain Ferguson will be back with us and banging them in for fun next season. So...

No I don't think you're wrong. I mean he's a good premier league player so would expect him to be able to. I'm only trying to point out what I think his limitations are as a player in relation to what our team needs. He could quite easily prove me wrong!

Haha I'm also extremely hopeful that Ferguson will be back too. To have him and the new guy in the squad will probably mean Pedro off though?

Much rather he comes on , than Gruda
Same here. He is quicker and a good finisher. It's sad to to him frozen out like this. Fab obviously doesn't rate him unless it's an attitude thing. He doesn't strike me as a person to cause problems though. At this moment in time i say he is way ahead of Gruda.

I'm quite shocked we turned down the idea of him leaving for Marseille in both windows this season.

I just can't see a world where we have a squad that fits in Mitoma, Minteh, Adingra, Facu, Enciso, Gruda, Sima, Osman, Sarmiento and Cozier-Duberry. Got to think Sima and Adingra would be top of the list to move on for a good profit (both will be 24 next season, have European and international experience, and will be in demand) and I just don't understand how keeping him here on the bench for half a year maximises his value.

I suppose we assumed the worst re injuries - which we obviously failed to account for last season - and kept Simon around in case we lost two of Mitoma, Minteh, and Gruda. (Solly wasn't fit at the start of the season so he doesn't count for these purposes - neither was Gruda really but it wasn't as serious an injury.) At this point, I wouldn't get rid unless Fabian decided Simon wasn't a good fit for his tactics, as Mitoma is likely leaving in the summer.

Oh yeah, I understand my argument is in hindsight and that in January we had a bit of a mini-fitness-crisis. Mitoma didn't start for the first time this season v Villa, Minteh had an injury in Dec and Gruda and March were out in Jan with new injuries. Completely get why the club stood firm on Simon, I just also think that there was clear interest for a player in the last 18 months of his contract, with an opportunity to make a profit, and whilst Bloom doesn't like the January window, that is the traditional time to sell.

On the Mitoma point, unless he has a change of heart about Saudi, I can't see him leaving. No one is going to pay over £65m for him outside of Saudi (because of his age) and he's too important to us to sell under our valuation of him if he isn't yearning to leave.

Indeed - the flipside of "January is a bad time to buy" is that it's a great time to sell to clubs desperate for reinforcements.

As a fan, I don't want Mitoma to leave. But I suspect we don't want him to leave on a free, and there's probably a European club out there willing to pay £45m-50m plus add ons, which at his age and with a year left on his contract would be a good return.

I'm not ITK or anything, that's just my reading of the situation.

Adingra isn't even getting that much time off the bench. Partly it's because Mitoma has been so consistent, but you also sense that the manager hasn't been that impressed with what he's seen.

Highly likely to be moved on in the summer in my opinion, whatever happens with Mitoma

2 years left on his contract in the summer. The club have a very strong hand as it stands, and I'm sure they would want to extend that anyway to avoid having to go into next season with the understanding he'd need to be sold by the following season.

My reading, again no ITK knowledge, is that the opportunity came and went in January for Mitoma's departure. Few whispers on the internet that the club aren't interested in selling him unless a silly price comes in, and if Saudi isn't a viable move then I just can't see where that offer will come from.

Long Live the King!

We are absolutely going to need Adringa before the season is out IMO. Having someone of his quality warming the bench is impressive.

Our wide attackers will need rotation and bringing Adringa on, even if it's just for half-hour, gives the opposition something to think about - it crucially provides us with an 'out' if we're camped back defending a lead etc

Part of me doesn't blame him, but then again part of me questions why he's not hit the gym? He's too lightweight. Whereas Ensico, Ali Mac, Goodnight, March, etc did something about it, he still looks lightweight 2 years on. He's in the wrong league IMO. I wouldn't loan him, I'd sell him.
I'm not sure I agree with you on your physicality point. He's no more lightweight than Mitoma for instance.

He also had a very good AFCON tournament for Ivory Coast, and that's about as physical a tournament as you're likely to see!
