Definite case of people spunking in their pants the second we lose a match just so they can say 'told you so' about Wilkins being sacked. Who gives a shit about Wilkins now? He may have been harshly treated, he may not have been, but either way it's IRRELEVANT now. Why does this site harp on about old managers so much? There are still daily references to MCGHEE for f*** sake. I mean what other club's constantly debate managers they had 3-5 years ago?

Just accept Micky is the manager, accept that he's done it here before, and accept that he's going to be given time to do it again. It's funny how many people ridicule the Newcastle's of this world for getting so wound up and calling for their manager's/board's head yet do exactly the same thing themselves - and, let's face it, out of us and Newcastle which is the one more worthy of some success? Jokers the lot of you.

Normally I think you write intelligent, perceptive and thoughtful comments so I think this must be the exception that proves the rule.

A half decent team has been dismantled and replaced with horrid crap.
A good team spirit has been destroyed.
A highly successful youth set up, so important for a) a community club b)a poor, selling club, appears to have been abandoned.

This is all so at the wrong time. I have seen nothing from Adams this season , managerially, selection wise or tactically that convinces me that he can have us playing good, attractive championship football in two years time and without that we are really going to be in the shit.

Is everyone's anger because they won't admit we're actually now a very small club. Decades of neglect, most effectively enforced by the previous board, have left those with memories full of frustration whilst there's hardly any new blood in the stands because the game's changed beyond recognition. Brighton's just not associated with football. We haven't enough passion in numbers and whist the pubs are full for London FC v Liverpool, United etc many locals are now surprised to hear there's a team called BHA FC which plays in League 1.

Ah, Mr. Badger. It's an excellent debating technique to inflate your opponents opinions and then shoot them down in flames. I use it on my wife and daughter all the time to great effect. The art, I find, is not to exaggerate too much and this I am afraid is your undoing. In order to make your points seem reasonable you have changed my "half decent team" to "some AMAZING side' and my "good team spirit" has metamorphosed into "tremendous team spirit."

My point about the youth is that he appears to have abandoned them only to replace them with loanees who have failed to do any better. Part of the reason a youth system works well is that kids see promotion through the ranks. All this is not to say I think our youth are all great but they are ours and are more likely to cough some lung than Robbie Savage is.

I'm sorry if you think I'm shooting you down. I didn't mean to. I genuinely don't see any difference in team spirit or, for the most part, quality in the side compared to last season. I think both have been AVERAGE this season, so for there to have been a downturn I was presuming last season would have to have been "tremendous."

As for the youth, fair point I suppose. I'd still rather take the RISK that a loanee will be good than settle for mediocrity like Fraser or Cox. Ok, it probably hasn't worked out as well as we'd have liked, but surely it's better to fail trying than to not try at all?

I accept your apology. I think for paragraph one to be true one then has to point the finger exclusively and firmly at MA. Which is what I find myself doing these days.

I think the point I am trying to make is that the failure, so far, this season of the loanees is costing us more than points.

I believe you sit near me and Mrs. MP (Block F, Row R, Seats 139 and 140).
Do come over and introduce yourself.

The loanees annoy me purely because with some good planning BEFORE the season we wouldn't need them. Everyone could see we had no quick winger, no leader in the middle of the park, and no back-up striker. If Adams had identified these problems too then we could have brought permanent signings in when we needed them, and they'd be playing a full part now. Instead we've got Savage who's just here to boost his fitness, Anyinsah who isn't consistent, and Thornton who can't even get on the pitch! It's a joke really, and a joke that will only get worse when they all go back and we have to find some replacements.

I don't really sit very near you (about 20 seats to your left and further forward), and I go up the G block stairs instead of F, but next time I'm in your DOMAIN I'll look out for you:thumbsup:

We are almost agreeing now. Especially about Thornton which I think is an outrage.

how much time do you give adams to turn it around - personally, i think once we are in the bottom four we are going to be in trouble as we dont seem to have the players with battling qualities that you need when in a relegation scrap - and that could happen as early as tuesday

My biggest gripe with Thicky Adams is how he's dropped the guys from the youth team. The exclusion of Lynch is appalling, as is leaving out Cox who has easily been our most creative force for a while now. Players like Chamberlain & Gargan haven't been given any kind of chance, and Thicky has just bought in unproven players from other clubs - what's the point in that?

Pre-season he brought in Mcleod who could still turn out to be a good signing, but why bring in Virgo AND Hawkins. Hawkins was a waste when we already had Elphick, Lynch & El-Abd. But of course they're Brighton youth players so we can't be doing with them. Let's bring in a journeyman clogger instead.

What's happened since pre-season is a catalogue of mistakes that's just made him look even more stupid. Virgo in every position except his best position, Hawkins at centre-back when he can barely run, complete mishandling of the Lynch situation, and numerous loan signings which smack of utter desperation.

Dick Knight should be on the phone to Danny Wilson asap. If he doesn't want the job, how about giving Nicky Forster a go. He's an experienced player, played for some good managers (not his current manager I hasten to add), and is very articulate.

I am really afraid for the club with Micky at the helm- loads of signings and going backwards. As a small club we must develop our youngsters and recruit wisely. Evidence so far is very poor regarding signings/tactics etc

The real culprits here are Dick Knight and the board. All successful clubs have stability and DK is forever changing managers. I am not over reacting but I really fear for the Albion. I hope that I am wrong.

Clearly the words of somebody who hasn't watched The Albion regularly recently.

Cox our creative force? He has moments of creativity in between long periods of being ineffective and anonymous. As for the guys from the youth team, I haven't seen him drop the ones that he sees as doing a decent job and he even bought on a second year apprentice against Man City-hardly the work of somebody abandoning the youth players.

Lynch? He wanted away from the club long before Adams came back and haven't you seen what one of his former team-mates said about him? The only mis-handling of the situation appears to be from Lynch, his ego and his agent.

El Abd is still a regular, as is Elphick. I don't think they came from anywhere other than the youth set-up. Ditto Virgo. Robinson? Hate to say it but he will never be anything other than League 2 or Conference-he is not good enough for this division.

Chamberlain and Gargan didn't exactly get any chances with Wilkins in charge did they? The rest of Wilkins' "Golden Generation" clearly aren't good enough. Do you seriously believe that Adams would be ignoring them if they were good enough?

Danny Wilson? Now I know you're out of touch.

no way danny wilson would come here - we would be paying off adams AND wilkins from there three year deals, and then have to fork out further compensation to get him

Worse than that, DK would have to admit he made a mistake in appointing Adams in the 1st place, no way is that ever gonna happen, we're stuck with Adams whatever. Let's hope he suprises those of us who think he's taking us backwards by going on a decent and entertaining run and proving DK right.

The exclusion of Lynch is appalling,
Very unfortunately, because I'd like him not to be a minor version of Leon Knight, it isn't - it's absolutely the right thing to do with a player who isn't half as good as he thinks he is and seemingly cannot be arsed one jot.

as is leaving out Cox who has easily been our most creative force for a while now.
...and who's been in absolutely minging form all season, even on those rare occasions when the rest of them haven't been fairly dreadful too.

Don't get me wrong: I'm certainly not for a second sticking up for Adams or the boring clumsy dreck that he's currently unapologetically serving up on a weekly basis. But those decisions weren't wrong, at the very least. There are plenty of other sticks to beat him with at the moment, like the league table.
