You really do talk some absolute BOLLOCKS don't you! No manager in their right mind would choose to permanantly switch Whing to LB

I believe that he played left back for Coventry on many occassions also if you remember Paul Watson he was a right back who kicked with his left foot which meant that he was always coming inside of the players to put in crosses also Dean Cox on the left- right footed, going back Chris Waddle on the right left footed. This ploy has been very succesful with many players why should Andrew Whing be any different.

Perhaps it is not quite such Bollocks as you say!!!

I'm very surprised people arnt really going for the virgo thing to be honest.

He was a real 110% effort type of player and a rock for us. Versatile aswell, the boy is a winner and his strength and ariel ability is what weve been lacking in years gone by.

I always used to say when we were in league one and the championship with players like Virgo,Cullip,Carpenter,Oatway.....we were one nil up in the tunnel before the game kicked off....we looked like a tough team of lads who were not to be messed with. Look at the squad of little boys we started a lot of games with last season.....we were not a hard looking team.

Come back adam...make as a team of hard looking nutters again!

That's a good point. When Adams was last in charge it was the spirit around the camp that gave us an advantage before the game even kicked off.

Because Whing was one of the most consistant players of the past season and a bit and so it'd be madness to disrupt that by asking him to play out of position.

Because Waddle and Watson could both play half decent with their lesser foot.

Because every time you have a full back who only uses the opposite foot to the side they play, the opposition winger only has to prevent a five yards ball inside and the full back will be forced to slice the ball into touch.

Virgo did a great job for us under the circumstances...but even though we're at a lower level than we were for much of the time he was a regular, I still think we've moved on.

I can't really see where he'd fit in: we don't really need centre halves (his first position), he tended to get caught out a bit at full back, and as a striker, well if I was Nicky Forster or Glenn Murray, and the club brought in Virgo for that position, I think I'd pack my bags.

Loved AV when he was here, but I don't see what he offers that we don't already have.

I'm still not convinced by Lynch at CB, I like him more at left-back. Elphick and Virgo as a CB partnership sounds good to me.

I still think we lack some personality and leadership. Virgo would help sort that problem out.

I can't believe the lack of enthusiasm for a Virgo return... he is a player who can play well in many positions... good in the air and on the floor, strong, etc... I would call time on the barely average AeA, and sign AV if at all possible...

Because we already have 3 centre backs and El-Abd still might sign which will be 4.

Playing Virgo in any other position is a waste.

Are we not allowed cover then? I would have Virgo as cover for Whing, Elphick, Lynch, Forster and Murray. I would imagine he would get a decent number a games.

I remember Mick McCarthy saying, after we beat Sunderland 2-1 at Withdean (when Virgo got sent off), that his side bottled it before the game when he saw we were starting with what he described as two bouncers up front (Virgo and McCammon).

I would suggest that Virgo may well be a better CB than Lynch in MA's eyes...

:lolol: spot on. Thats what we need again and by the looks of things adams is doing it again, bringing in big lads to bolster up our youth-fall looking squad of little boys.....we need men to get us out of this league, players who arnt afraid of getting some mud on their shorts.

He would not be out of position because he has played there a lot and also as regards slicing clearances into touch 80% of his clearances last season went into touch from his right foot in the right back position so that cannot be any point to judge by.

Way out west
I would welcome Virgo back, the first time I saw him play I was impressed by his commitment, tackling and the way he distributed the ball...at that stage I believed he would be a future captain of the team and was gutted to see him leave, albeit that the cash came in mighty handy, would love to see my opinion of him and his potential proven right.
