Barrel of Fun

Abort, retry, fail
also gotta remember Gus and Tony dont like doing business in the January transfer window..could he be our first record signing in the Championship maybe?

I am not sure that should be taken as the gospel. Pre-season is the preference and anything after that is not so good.

I think for that sort of money we could pay for a loan on an average championship striker.
For me a player on the way back down maybe better at this point than buying a player on the way up.

Think you could be right here. Whilst Murray can be considered a seasoned striker Barnes and if he returns, Holroyd, are not. An experienced championship striker would make sense to me. Frankly I am rather sceptical that Sandoza will be a major part of the team but I hope I'm wrong.

Le Fondre would be just the same as Holroyd at League 1 level.

Yes... unfortunately, we should have done so before the season started, IMHO... price tag increasing...

I think you are being hugely disrespectful to league 2. The only real difference is about the top 6 in league 1 and the bottom 6 in league 2, the teams in between aren't that different.

There really isn't that big a gap between the leagues, as proved by the number of teams who do well and gain promotion from league two and go on to be high end league one teams. It's the Championship where the difference is a lot more tangible.

Le Fondre is banging them in for fun over a sustained period in league two, the chances are very good that he'll be able to do the same in league one.

I didn't attend yesterdays game, but it is clear from Gus' post match interview and from posts on NSC from those of you who went to the match that Ashley Barnes missed a relatively straight forward chance in the 1st half with the score at 0 - 0. Now before I get shot down, let me point out that I am an admirer of Barnes and see a lot of potential in him. There is no doubting the fact though that he does miss more chances than he scores, and if we are to seriously maintain a bid to finish top 2 this season then a 'natural' goalscorer needs to be brought to the club in the January transfer window IMO.

This brings me onto Le Fondre, 25+ goals last season, and a very impressive 15 goals already this season. A young striker with a killer instinct. I have seen a number of his goals and a heck of a lot of them are 6 yard box finishes. In my mind this lad would be the missing piece of the jigsaw and would help secure automatic promotion this season. I reckon 1.5 - 2 million would secure his services, and personally I think he is worth the money.

So my question to you is, should the Albion bid for Adam Le Fondre in January, YES or NO?

:albion1:

Dream on he is waiting to go to a big club not a town full of spam javelin jockeys

... and his assessment of what makes a 'big club', or at least one that ALF could realistically aspire to at this stage in his career...

Now that LuaLua is injured I wonder if Gus will have another punt from Monkhouse ?

I'd rather try to sign Charlie Austin.

I'd tend to agree, Swindon probs wouldn't charge £1.5mil either but I'd pay it.

Plus JUST HOW FUNNY WOULD THAT BE:laugh:
