I didn't attend yesterdays game, but it is clear from Gus' post match interview and from posts on NSC from those of you who went to the match that Ashley Barnes missed a relatively straight forward chance in the 1st half with the score at 0 - 0. Now before I get shot down, let me point out that I am an admirer of Barnes and see a lot of potential in him. There is no doubting the fact though that he does miss more chances than he scores, and if we are to seriously maintain a bid to finish top 2 this season then a 'natural' goalscorer needs to be brought to the club in the January transfer window IMO.

This brings me onto Le Fondre, 25+ goals last season, and a very impressive 15 goals already this season. A young striker with a killer instinct. I have seen a number of his goals and a heck of a lot of them are 6 yard box finishes. In my mind this lad would be the missing piece of the jigsaw and would help secure automatic promotion this season. I reckon 1.5 - 2 million would secure his services, and personally I think he is worth the money.

So my question to you is, should the Albion bid for Adam Le Fondre in January, YES or NO?

I'd like him yes. I think we do need another good striker as the only 2 up to it in my opinion are Murray and Barnes. We need at least 3 decent strikers esp as Barnes and Muzza will get injured / suspended at some point too.

15 goals already this season is pretty impressive. But look at Holroyd, he's been banging quite a few in down at League 2 level and couldn't get a sniff at League 1.

Obviously it doesn't necessarily mean Le Fondre couldn't cut it at League 1 and he has been consistent at League 2 level for a few years now.

I'd definitely welcome him in during the January window anyhow!

Holroyd is scoring as regularly as Le Fondre in what is probably an inferior team and yet people think we should spunk out seven figures for the latter, makes you wonder at times.
Mind you I said this yesterday.

Le Fondre has scored around 3 times as many as Holroyd has this season

He's been there since the beginning of the season  Bear in mind that Rotherham want at least £1.5 mill for him how much does that make Holroyd worth ?

Still feel we'd be outbidded buy numerous Championship clubs, someone like Middlesborough will probably snap him up.

You could say the same about Jake Robinson. If you see some of the goals he has put away this season.Imagine if we were linked to him, everyone would be so excited!

In fairness they are not comparable. Le Fondre has 40 goals in a season and a bit.

Holroyd the missing link!?!?!?!

I didn't say he was but at the same time I don't think Le Fondre is either. Worth noting that when Zamora was knocking them in for fun at that lever so was Robert Earnshaw of Cardiff and Brett Ormerod at Blackpool. Whilst all three had a spell in the Premier Zamora is the only one who is still there. Granted Ormerod was a bit older but is any League Two striker worth seven figures ?

If we were to bid for him, I'd like a down payment and then added fees if he does the business.

Say, £750,000, then another £750,000 if he shoots us to the Championship. :)

If he doesn't fulfil his promise, then thats all they get!

They have a very over inflated opinion of him if they think he is worth 1.5 million plus! How can a player who has only ever proved himself at FOURTH DIVISION level be worth that? Utter madness.

Sounds like they're just using the sizable valuation to warn off all but the bigger clubs. I think it would/will be interesting to see what he can do at a higher level, but not here for that kind of money. Tony Bloom wouldn't pay it anyway.

If it greatly enhanced the chance of gaining promotion wouldn't it be a risk worth taking for TB?

Le Fondre has 16 in 19 in all competitions, Holroyd has 6 in 9 for Stevenage (which is actually better than his rate for Cambridge when we signed him). So not quite the same rate as you said earlier. But still a fair point, Holroyd, Davies etc scoring fairly regularly in that division shows the difference in quality. Has anyone on here even seen Le Fondre play a game?
