Wondered why there were so many flowers outside the school today - sad news. Hopefully this won't be in vain and that pedestrians and drivers alike will be more careful on that road.

There isn't much by way of crossings etc. to be put on that road, there are already islands etc on there.

My opinion of a couple of posters on here has gone very much downhill as a result of reading this thread.

We are playing a friendly with Coldean Colts in a couple of weeks, and I suspect young Henry was a part of their squad, which must be devistating for his team mates, school friends and family. I pray this poor little lad didn't feel any pain while the medical staff tried in vain to save his life. My sympathies to everyone who knew him and his family.
As a parent of a nine year old, boisterous football mad boy, this put chills down my spine. How many times, despite unending parental warnings have kids taken a step out into the road, or as in this case, peeked out around a car or bus. Just one second to devistate so many people. Sleep well and in peace young man.

firstly henry didnt run out in front of the car !!!
Without being insensitive, but may I ask if he didn't run out in front of the car how did he happen to be hit?

From the Argus:

After getting off the bus the excited youngster thought he saw his cousins at the college and was going to cross the road.

Vicky said: “Henry loved his cousins and when he got off the bus he told his mum he could see them.

“She is always careful on the road and told him to wait so he stopped. But he just popped his head out from behind the bus to look and the car hit him.”

Henry suffered head injuries and was flown to the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel but died in the early hours of Saturday at Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital.

What a terrribly tragic and sad story. If it were my son, I don't know if I would be able to cope with it. My thoughts are with the parents and family.
