Aaron Ramsey (Arsenal) broken leg

Barrel of Fun

Abort, retry, fail
anyone who thinks there was intent, including Wenger, is a twat.

The bloke (and the rest of the players) were truly devasted. Nobody wants to see that happen to a fellow pro.

Don't be silly. Stoke tend to 'rough house' and they are not worthy of a positoin in the Premiership or is it Premier League??

I'm not sure if you are joking or not but Stoke are more than worthy of a place in the Premiership. I shall reply in the morning anyway as I'm off to bed.

Seen the incident?

Shawcross goes for ball.

Ramsey's too quick for him and takes the ball, Shawcross takes his leg instead - unfortunately it shatters.

Seen many worse tackles than that resulting in yellows and reds that have left the player without injury. Just unfortunate.

The difference between the Shawcross tackle and the Virgo one (for comparison), is simple. Ramsey, unfortunately, has his right foot planted on the ground so when the tackle comes in all the force of the tackle, and the weight, is transferred to that leg. Gradel, however, was in the air and avoided injury. Two tackles, two red cards, two very different outcomes.

That's football. The fine margins involved are staggering, at times.

Also, BoF was, without question, joking. ??? How can you doubt that, seriously.

I have and I agree. I was pandering to the opinion of the armchair EPL fans.

I post on one other forum and the Arsenal fans were, pretty much insistent, that Shawcross should be hung, drawn and quartered. Certainly not how I saw the incident.

Now I follow the arsenal (the argument of supporting two teams can be ignored) .

The tackle wasn't great but not BAD at all. Feel awful for shawcross as this must really be playing with his head and of course terrible for Ramsey.

It was just a freak incident, about 4 things going wrong at the same time. The speed of the player(Ramsey), shawcrosses point of impact, the speed of impact and where Ramseys foot was when it was made(all ready in the turf at an angle)

I don't believe wenger was in any way saying shawcross MEANT to do anything but get the ball, but that IN GENERAL teams do go in a bit harder on arsenal As it is commenly seen that they 'don't like a battle' and 'will struggle at places like Stoke and bolton' which has often been true.

But again this was an accident. Hopefully not as bad as eduardos as his was a full dislocation of the foot, but obviously looking at a calender year I would think.

Good luck to Ramsey, and I hope this doesn't destroy shawcross' season as he deserves his England place.

After watching it a few times I'm starting to think that Ramsey didn't do himself any favours with the way he went into the challenge.

If you look at it Ramsey was leaning back when he touched the ball with his leg outstreached.

I'm sure Shawcross was expecting to hit the ball at the same time like a usual 50/50 challenge so put all of his weight into it. By stretching out his leg and getting a toe to it Ramsey took the full force of shawcross on his leg. Had he just gone in for the 50/50 and hit the ball at the same time it wouldn't have happened.

Perhaps wenger is right and it isn't a coincidence that his players keep getting injured. He needs to teach his players how to go into a tackle.

Wenger was whinging about how "unacceptable" it was. Wtf is that goon on about, he is a complete clueless idiot...all the time, that man!

Wenger is coming across as a complete twat-again.

"We're always being picked on-boo hoo:cry:".

"Other teams all go into tackles harder against Arsenal boo hoo:cry:".

Maybe he should have stuck to boy's football...on second thought, not such a good idea.

As for calling for extra punishment because of an accidental leg break-he needs punishment himself.

He is just sticking up for his players you complete moron. If BHA had 3 such horrific injuries in such a short space of time I would expect Gus to do the same and would be angry if he didn't. It seems Bwian has no bwain.

Of course, but treat us like adults and let us decide whether to switch over or not.

The idea of not showing the violence at football games isn't about protecting the audience, though. It's about not wanting drunk idiots at the next game thinking "Oooh... if I start trouble, I could get on TV and big it up in front of my mates".

I suppose it's just as well Shawcross didn't have a name like Pike, Fish or Killer-Whale or we'd have had 5 pages of pathetic one-liners by now.

Yes, because some of us on here would Shaw be cross if people made name-based puns...

From the youtube clip
if you pause at 3 seconds you can clearly see both players going for the loose ball, shawcross possibly is a bit nearer, both clearly commited to winning it and the injury could have gone either way.
no foul,no red card.
ref got it wrong.

If the ref didn't act, perhaps the FA would have felt pressure to act, and would have given a worse punishment than the 3 game ban he'll get.

When I saw it on match of the day, I didn't notice the challenge. It just looked like a coming together. I think some people are being harsh on the challenge because of the what a horrendous injury resulted from it.

Despite this incident there will still be fans and commentators questioning referees' decisions when ruling certain challenges as fouls because "this is a man's game".

Silly twats. Football is a physical game, accidents happen. its just a coincidence that Arsenal are on the receiving end. I would HATE if the English game turned into something like the Spanish game where its all namby pamby shit.

3 times in 4 years is not a coincidence. You seem willing to sacrifice skill and talent for thuggery. Exactly the mentailty that the blogger refers to. I hope you have no position to influence football beyond sitting behind your keyboard and writing rubbish.

Thuggery? ffs, only 1 of those injuries has come from a genuinely terrible challenge. You just sound like the typical Arsenal fan who wants rid of all tackling so they can pirouette through the entire team.

'Oh teams tackle us..waaaaaa':cry::cry::cry:
