Feel sorry for both players involved neither would've wanted the outcome.

Here comes the Andy Gray 'serious' chat, dear oh dear. Switching off and logging off, night night all. Let's not forget, only one news story today...Albion 3 points, whoo-hoo.

Your sympathy for a young man who has just been horrifically injured is heart warming..:tosser:

Aaron James Ramsey (born 26 December 1990)[1] is a Welsh international footballer, who plays as a box-to-box central midfielder for Arsenal, but can also play on either wing or at fullback.

On 10 June 2008 it was confirmed that after meeting officials from Arsenal, Manchester United and Everton, Ramsey had decided to join Arsenal, who paid Cardiff City a total of £4.8 million for the player.[12] The move was completed on 13 June 2008 on what is said to be a long-term contract. The main reason he chose Arsenal ahead of the other clubs that pursued his signature was the approach of Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger, who flew him and his family to Switzerland to talk about the plans Wenger had for him and his potential future with Arsenal.[13] Wenger described Ramsey as "a player with a fantastic engine, good build, good technique and good vision"

Ryan James Shawcross (born 4 October 1987) is an English footballer who currently plays as a defender for Stoke City.

Stoke made advances to make Shawcross' loan permanent during the January 2008 transfer window,[5] and the move was finally completed on 18 January 2008, with Stoke paying Manchester United an initial £1m, with the possibility of a further £1m dependent on appearances and Stoke achieving promotion.[6]

After a fine debut Premier League season, Shawcross was linked to several clubs such as West Ham, Fulham, Everton, Liverpool and Manchester United,[7][8] however both Shawcross[9] and Stoke manager Tony Pulis[10] dismissed this speculation.

Following Shawcross' fine form in his debut Premier League season, Tony Pulis, his manager at Stoke tipped Shawcross to break into the England senior side.

Doesn't surprise me. It's a pretty horrific thing to witness through the telly, so on the pitch it must be terrible, and to have committed the challenge must just play on you mind constantly.

PS: Do you remember Alan Mullery dropping Paul Clark for making reckless tackles ?

There are FAR more serious injuries in football than Rugby. And they say Rugby is the Man's game.

What a twattish comment, how many footballers break their neck playing football.

Most football injuries result in a year out at the most, some rugby injuries leave you in a wheelchair.

40 mph impact, you can hardly blame Shawcross for his human reaction ???

I would like to compare with Virgo's challenge at Leeds.

It is a very stupid comment when I was 16 an 18 year old player was in a scrum that collapsed and he never walked again.

Rugby has far worse injuries.

Various utterly stupid Arsenal fans already on 6-0-6 calling for life bans, Tony Pulis to be suspended, etc etc.

They're all coming out of the woodwork now to tell the world how victimised their perfect footballing team is by the nasty other clubs.

Sake. It was a foul (I gather), they happen in football, some players get injured, some don't. Unfortunately as every player knows, injuries are an occupational hazard.

Just got home from post-match celebratory beer - only to hear about (& now see) this terrible injury. Talk about a stark contrast. :(

I soooo hope this hasn't ended the career of a very talented young player.

Awful scenes.
