United sang it in the 70's you can hear it on The Big Match Revisited.
Wasn't it first ever sung at Old trafford? by MU ??
Liverpool started singing it in the 60s when it was first a hit for Gerry and the Pacemakers
.
That was in 63, but the song came from Carousel which had been around since 1945. The film was in 1956.
No argument who sang it first in England ,but United fans will no doubt claim they ever sang it at all. Hope the bus strike didn't give you any problems today.Liverpool started singing it in the 60s when it was first a hit for Gerry and the Pacemakers

To confirm that everywhere you go there is a Tattoo Parlour - one is just opening on Steyning High Street. Discount for OAPs on Tuesday afternoons.
So which team started singing it from the musical or the film?
Why is it necessary to google everything and quote irrelevant facts? Does it say on wikepedia which football teams supporters sang this first? Cos that was what was being discussed
I have heard this body art malarkey referred to as "twattoos".
Either because it makes the victim look like a tw-at, or they are a tw-at - apparently .....

As a fan of musicals, I didn't have to google it. My point was that it was well known before Gerry Marsden sang it.
