ManUre the the biggest hypocrites in world football and should be docked serious points for this blatant disregard of the rules.

As if... they are the untouchables. The Ferrari of the football world

You're right, but that is what makes it so bad. They will go on & on taking the piss out of football and doing whatever the f*** they want.

The only way to stop them is to give them such a big points reduction that their season will be pointless. Maybe then they will play by the rules.

Easy to slag 'em but chasing the best players and making it as difficult as possible for other clubs to chase their best players is what any fan would want their club to do.

oh dear, it was all a BIG misunderstanding :D

Manchester United's Scandinavian supporters' branch claims they were to blame for the recent quotes attributed to Sir Alex Ferguson talking about Dimitar Berbatov.

The group, who run a popular website in Norway, published quotes from Ferguson which are in turn believed to have been carried by some leading British newspapers.

Although the interview from Ferguson about Berbatov was claimed as an exclusive by one newspaper, the webmaster for the supporters' club feels they are to blame after misquoting the United boss.

"A feather has become 35 hens here. It might seem like we are to blame for what has happened," admitted the branch's webmaster Steinar Madsen to Aftonposten.

"We are to the blame in the sense how the interview was presented. Ferguson didn't mention the name Berbatov when he was interviewed by us.

"I would call it a misunderstanding. It was tricky conditions for the interview.

"As journalists, you have probably experienced this yourself, how it is to listen to the tape afterwards.

"That can cause problems and Ferguson's accent is not too easy to understand to start with.

Obviously the FACTS spoil this anti-United ranting thread, but as has been pointed out United put a bid in for Berbatov, Real Madrid have done no such thing for Ronaldo. Which makes all the difference in the world.

If Spurs have got a gripe it is against Berbatov's agent, who hasn't stopped publicly trying to flog him for two years.

But it really is about time everyone stopped whining about all this. Players go to bigger clubs, end of story. Always have, always will. Bostock goes to Spurs, Berbatov goes to United.

The difference with Ronaldo is that you'd be hard-pressed to make the case Real Madrid are currently a bigger club than Man U. Although clearly Real don't realise that yet.
I must admit, I find all these anti United rants somewhat tedious and I tend to agree with you on this one. The conduct of Real Madrid has been a total disgrace and United have every right to complain. However, Spurs can also feel aggrieved - if a club publicly states their player is NOT for sale, then the like of Man Utd should not be courting the player. However, the player's agent has been unsettling him for months, and if Man Utd played strictly by the rules in this situation, the worry for them would be that another club wouldn't and would sign the player instead. So while United are not entirely blameless, at least they have a) waited until the player himself was unsettled and b) made a sensible offer. Madrid, on the other hand, unsettled Ronaldo themselves and haven't made any sort of firm offer and will rely on him throwing a strop and being able to pick him up cheap.

At the end of the day, UEFA need to sort out a whole code of conduct with the PLAYERS. I'm all for free movement of trade, but too many high profile players are making a mockery of the contracts they sign. Ronaldo & Berbatov should hang their heads in shame for allowing their agents to tout their services in the middle of highly lucrative contracts without the consent of the clubs paying their wages.

All players get tapped up by other clubs, what stinks about United is that Fergie is a hypocrite. You only have to look at the way he lured Hargreaves, Ferdinand etc to the club, via leaked comments to chums in the media to his own effect.

Players are not 'unsettled' by such comments, they have short careers and want to maximise their income, if it means some extra dosh, or a chance to live closer to home, then good luck to them.

bigger crowds, more renowned players, nicer place the list is endless. Madrid will always be bigger than United as are Barca and A.C Milan imo

bigger crowds, last seasons figures

Team Avg. Min. Max. Total Capacity %Full
Real Madrid 75189 69600 80000 1428600 80354 94 %
Man United 75642 75000 76013 1437204 76212 99

More renowned players. They probably did but I dont know now. And does more renowned mean better players or being a "galactico" and being on more Nike adverts

Nicer place. Granted its sunnier, but that doesnt make a club bigger does it really

I'd argue that United are currently the biggest club team in the world, what being champions of europe and fairly consistent winners of the best league in the world

Why is it the best league in the world?

not sure, I think being the most lucrative league is attracting more top players than other leagues. The pace of games is so quick now give me the prem over say boring serie A any day. La Liga is more watchable but I'd say only barca and Real would get near our top 4 at the moment. 3 teams in the champions league finals 2 seasons running...

would you disagree?

Depends what you're looking for.
If you want a League where the top four positions are already as good as NAILED ON every year before a ball has been kicked, then I guess the Premiership ticks all the boxes.

Four different clubs have won the Budesliga, Serie A and the Primera Liga in the last 10 seasons, one of whom was in relegation trouble last season in Spain. Can't see that happening in England - the Premiership has only ever been won by four clubs.

yeah that sounds about right. cant be arsed to check at the mo but the stats are probably pretty similar, I bet Serie a has had 1 or 2 teams win it once over the last 10 - 15 years other than other than Inter and Juve, probably something similar in Spain, dunno about Germany Bayern must win it well over half the time

Just saying that the prem isnt really any different to other top leagues with regards to a big gulf between a handful of clubs then the rest
