Don't sack him, just tell him he will be sacked unless he accepts the maximum possible fine, a wage reduction back to youth player levels and every single piece of community work the club have going for the next 16 months. Then he'll realise just how badly he has abused his privileged position as a professional footballer by acting like a total and utter dickhead:angry:

he should not be sacked, but i think he should be fined a couple of weeks wages, as to show the club concerned about it. If they charge him wages its for his own good as well as everyone else on the roads.
If he makes a mistake he should get punished, and the club should be seen to be doing something.

Hinch was a very stupid boy, that's not in any doubt but spare me the sanctimonious attitude.

Yeah, but I bet your sympathy for the Man U player who was killed dropped a tad when we found out he was way over the limit??

High up on the South Downs.
He has been incredibly stupid and could easily have killed somebody.
I think we should give him another chance . Not least because we are a broke club who have invested time and money on a young player with genuine talent. Why should another club (eg Reading or Palace) benefit?
Remember Tony Adams.
The club have been right to drop him. What a fool!

Acting like a stereotypical footballer, in other words.

Maybe this is why he isn't playing regularly in the first team anymore?

Is precisely the right answer - I found out about this last Saturday from a mate in hospitality.

Silly boy - hope he learns from this.

Terrible way to behave.I know he is only a young lad but he is in such a fortunate position of being a proffessional footballer he should look after himself and go without a few minor things such as getting pissed up.As for the drink driving I think anyone who gets caught should get a custodial sentence.Lucky he didn't kill someone then it should be murder.Very foolish young man.

Definately an incident in which the club must show their dissaproval and teach a lesson. We're always harping on about players showing a good example on the pitch, this must also hold true off the pitch.Yes he is young and yes a lot of people have done stupid things behind the wheel and got away with it but he decided to come into a carrer which is no ordinary one. He knows that he will be high profile if he ever does anything wrong outside of work. He has to be extra careful, it comes with the job.
I dont think he should be sacked but the youth players and younger fans must be shown how serious an incident this was and the club has to state their view on it.
Hopefully he will learn from this. He'd better.

after crashing into an oncoming car, not stopping, going to a night club where he is arrested. the legal drink drive limit is 35, he was 65. He also had no insurance, and was fined just over a grand
Was he actually drink driving? If he was in a night club then he surely had drinks their putting him over the limit. Hopefully with no intention of driving home.

Makes no difference, Hit and run is as serious as it gets without a fatality.

Hopefully he will learn from this and never do it again maybe he was having problems we didn't know about. It is certainly a wake up call. I wondered why he has not played in the side for ages. He was lucky he did not kill anyone or himself.

on a related note: Ed Giddins anyone? Sacked from Sussex CCC for a positive drugs test (cocaine I think), served a ban, come back to be a top county bowler and played for England. He may have got a 'life lesson' from his ban, Sussex didn't exactly benefit from their moral stance.
