I think that Charlton have set the model to which BOTH Palace and the Albion aspire to. They have done it without a sugar daddy (unlike Fulham) but with continuity in the key club positions.

I suspect that Simon Jordan (once described as a 'Twat' on Radio 5 Live no less) is too trigger happy to provide the security that is required.

Palace will continue to flit between good and average seasons in the Championship, and promotion in years where the competition is poor.

The Albion will do the same, but probably in one division below, until we have an established stadium and fan base that allows the board to fund an improvement in players.

Our squad cost a total of £110,000 on Tuesday (CKR £45,000, LK £50,000, Charlie £15,000), I hate to think how much the Palace squad cost, especially if you factor in AJ too.

Couldnt agree more EP

But you know as much as I do, if a player wants out he will find a way. Yes Jordan can say you are contracted to us, but if he stops performing at his best, his value drops, so the player still has a lot of say if they want out.

True but as you found out to your cost tuesday Jordan drives a hard bargain! ;)

Maybe. I guess the obvious one is if Johnson hits some form, is he going to be pushing for a move? He seems to be out of the England picture, again.

I havent a clue UB there is bound to be speculation surrounding johnson if we are not top 6 by january that is inevitable

To be honest AJ if you get into the Prem and stay there - good luck. It needs more "relatively" smaller sides in there. And one day, I hope, the small clubs will usurp the power of the big 3 or 4 who are killing off English if not British football.

The Bolton's, Blackburns etc have no greater support than yourselves and us. We all know success in the Prem is mainly due to a constant (large) budget and manager.

Careful guys, there's some good, reasoned argument here, on both sides. Is this what NSC is for? What happened to good old fashioned bigotted abuse? ;)

OK AJ IS A SCUM TWAT:lolol:

BUT WE'VE GOT MORE OF A COMMON INTEREST WITH THEM, THAN WE HAVE WITH THE MAN U'S AND TO BE HONEST THAN LEYTON O

Two very similar sized clubs with similar support bases. One has been run badly with a lack of ambition. The other has been run with a mixture of greedy self interest and incompetence until lately. All through the 70's crowds etc were pretty similar.

I truly believe that Brighton's top end is greater than Palace's simply because of location, but the evidence so far doesn't really back that up.

But please don' t think that this makes you any less scum because it doesn't :clap2:

Oh and 1 - 0 :salute:

Let’s not forget we also tore the Palace apart when we played at Withdean, it was only due to our ability to be unable to hit a barn door that night that we failed to knock up a hatful of goals. How many opportunities did Hart miss that night?

Some Palace posters on here have indicated that the rivalry is not so intense on their side? Well who are their biggest rivals? Millwall will state that it is West Ham. Charlton, Arsenal, Chelsea will just laugh at Palace. It can only be us or Crawley Town!

Even if their squad ignored the history between the clubs, the extra buzz in the crowd would certainly tell them, this was a different match.

Whist Palace played in the Prem. I doubt that that the Man U’s, Newcastle’s perceived the game as any thing else but a day out in London against lowly Palace.

With 10% of your budget scummers we have whipped your arse’s twice and more to come!

Can i just say that our rivalry with you in the majority of Palace fans eyes is a strong as ever and those who say it isn't probably haven't yet experienced what it's like during a match between our two clubs.

ps. Charlton are deseperate for rivals so it is in fact US who laugh at them in that respect :smokin:
