Funny how few people can take on board the fact that Stoke's style changed as they developed and consolidated into a Premier side, after having initially scrapped and 'long-balled' it to maintain that status.

No, I don't think realistically that we can get Pulis, but would take him like a shot if it became possible.

Mixed feelings still.

Anti-Pulis: never felt part of the club. Referred to us as "they" and "the football club". In contrast spoke so highly if Stoke and the Coates family (regularly) further highlighting his lack of commitment to us. Like dating a bird who tells stories about her ex every time you take her for dinner. Absolutely ****ed us at the worst possible time. I could forgive him for leaving, but find it dishonorable, disrespectful and unprofessional to do it at that time he did. Either go in May/June or stick it out.

Pro Pulis: Taking the emotion out of the equation, you have to admit, he was a quality, quality manager. Tactically, I have never seen us that organised in 20 years- every player knew their role to the most minute detail and the spirit in the team was infectious. He understands that the game at this level is about small margins and so studies every minor detail to gain his team an advantage. I have no doubt he would've kept us up again.

Reading through that list, there are some there I definitely would not want. I have gone for Pulis, mainly because I think he is capable of pulling us out of the mire.

Let's get the basics out the way now:

It doesn't MATTER how amazing or rubbish they were in their last job. It's literally no barometer for how they will fair here. PLENTY of managers do bad at one club and then GREAT at their next.....hence them previously being out of work in the first place.

'This' all day. The football boulevard of broken dreams is paved with the sullied reputations of managers like David Moyes.

As suggested by a few others, I doubt Pulis would come here.

He would want more control that the club could give him given the current set up.

Chris Hughton would be the leading candidate for me. Excellent record at this level & fits the mould the club want ... Not too outspoken, very nice guy but commands respect.

Think Pulis and Sherwood are non-starters. TP is probably first in line for the next prem job that comes up (maybe Leicester) and although Sherwood isn't first in line he has an ego that thinks he is.
Hughton, McDermott and Robinson are the best realistic options from the list and any of them would be fine by me.

Pulls may come on a short term highly paid contract to try and save our season. But it would only be short term (6 months) and he wouldn't want it to get in the way of a top league position in the summer. Even if his time here was a disaster he would be constantly in the media spotlight highlighting the fact he was hired as a firefighter on a short deal working in near impossible conditions to limit the damage to his c.v.*





With this in mind I voted for TP but think TB will not want short term so would now prefer to back Robinson.
