After 15+ years of the UK turning out total shit, boy bands, girl bands, morose middle class tossers who think they have cred by spouting trendy BS, stuffed shirt brainless shits who think their cool by imping cheesey 60's culture(Oasis), clowns who cant f***ing sing(Blur) etc

Give a big hand for THE DARKNESS!, A breath of fresh air after years of stale mediocre shit.

I'm even turning the radio on more.:clap2: :clap2:

The Darkness are the biggest waste of space nothing band I have heard ina long time. The lead singe ris a prize Cock and they are in the same band as Robbie "I'm a ****" Williams as far as I'm concerned

cant argue with that Tinx, they are basically Spinal Tap that some mugs are being conned into taking seriously, the should have released their latest single yesterday, just to reiterate that their fans are serious April fools.

Got to agree.

True music is being killed off in favour of manufactured music, and it stinks. Record exec's are putting together groups of people with perfect smiles and skinny bodies with minimal music talent in order to release a couple of singles, an album, and get a fair amount of money. (NB The record companies earn the money, 'bands' are cobbled together to suit an audience and told to sign stupid contracts which mean they earn next to nothing)These people will travel the kids shows (who buy the most singles with their £3 pocket money), appearing all luvvy duvvy, and sell a fair few records, squeezing out people who release excellent music, and don't need PR stunts, out of the charts.
The funny thing is though when, say Steps, enter the US charts, and are lucky to break the top 100, PR reps tell the world that "America has a poor taste in music", no, it's because these individuals hand out shit, and the US aren't eating it.

I'm not saying that Indie rock should be the be all and end all of the charts no. I'd just like to see a variety, bit of pop, bit of rock, bit of R'n'B, bit of metal and a bit of rap. Just keep it varied, so the cream rises to the top of the charts, not the scum.

There has been plenty of good music produced in the UK over the last 15 years - its just not getting the air-time/recognition it deserves due to over cautious radio bosses playing main stream toss.

As for the Darkness...... sound like Queen to me but they're alright

They're shite and don't get me started on 'that fat dancer from Take That'. Angels is one of the worst songs ever. Cigarette lighters aloft.... I offer you redemption... what a cock!

I have to agree, grudgingly, with Looney about The Darkness although I do see signs of wankerdom starting there. Still, its a bit much to say that music for the last 15 years has been crap.

There's far to many artists to mention and this debate is highly tedious as music taste is completely subjective. For example I can't stand Coldplay and still wonder as to why Radiohead are so popular. However, theri record sales say that they're not bad.

Are you suggesting QUEEN arn't alright? Queen happen to be on of the GREATEST BANDS THIS COUNTRY HAS EVER PRODUCED. Queen are right up there with the likes of the Stones, Beatles and (to an extent) dire straits.

With songs like Bohemian Rhapsody, Somebody to Love, Crazy Little Thing Called, We Will Rock You, Spread Your Wings, Fat Bottomed Girls, March of the Black Queen, We are the Champions, Save Me, Killer Queen, Seven Seas of Rhye etc etc the list goes on!

Although Queen probably aren't the best band of all time, being right behind the likes of the stones, the beatles and led Zepplin isn't a bad feat!

Now don't get me wrong, I do LIKE the darkness, but the shitness of music at the moment makes them look better than they are. queen are rock legends, and the darkness were slightly rock-ish for a while. you can't really compare the two as The Darkness are a novelty act. they were amusing at the time, some good songs but now they have descended into irritating high pitched warbling to almost the exact same tune as all of their other songs.

I can't imagine The Darkness creating a song that compares to Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody, which is one of the most original and unique songs out there!

Now if you had said EZIO looney I would have agreed with you. Ezio are one of the great live bands and it's a travesty they haven't made it big. Booga is a guitarist in the same league as Mark Knopfler and Clapton(who is somewhat overated imo)

Quite right, legends, I think the 80's stuff was equally good to that you have mentioned as well - As for the Darkness, they're fun, and by today's standards at least, original

Not at all - Queen are a fine band - I think that the Darkness have copied a lot of things that made that made Queen such a unique act

The darkness have tried to be Queen but failed miserably.

No one can match Queen, they were the best at what they did and no one will ever come close.
