Deputy chairman and chief executive Paul Barber said, “It’s great to see the trend of a very high number of season-ticket renewals continuing.

“Year on year more of our fans are committing earlier to season tickets which underlines their pleasure at the progress we’ve made this season under Fabian Hurzeler.

“Fabian talks a lot about making the Amex our ‘castle’ and I know how much both he and the players appreciate the magnificent support we get at home. We’re looking forward to experiencing that for the remainder of this campaign and also next season."

Impressive, although a shade down on the "more than 95%" reported on each of the last two seasons.

Maybe when I wrote this last year, I was wrong...

- Record sales of a new Albion shirt each season
- Record Albion season ticket renewals each season

I'm one of the non-renewers, sadly.

Can't justify it right now, don't get to enough games, and whilst I love the actual match experience, I do feel like everything around the top level football-going experience is slowly becoming more and more of a faff, travel is pretty awful, and yeah. Bad fan, I know.

I suspect when I'm retired/kids are older, I will be going to a LOT more games, just how life is atm.

Where the club say that "more season tickets than ever will be made available for supporters to buy for the 2025/26 season" is that by virtue of the renewal rate being slightly lower than in previous seasons?

Yup - great way of spinning it into a positive, ha.

93% is still decent but the reduction in rate is understandable given difficult economic conditions and the continuing post-Covid travel issues.

Rather than be snarky about the rate I’d have to wonder what it would have been without both the direct debit and funded travel schemes. A lot lower I reckon, so hats off to the club for continuing to offer both.

I am not too surprised at this and detect a slight tailing off in interest. Many matches now are played in front of , I would estimate, more than a 1000 empty seats. Obviously there always be "good" reasons why a ST holder cannot go, but a couple of years ago, so many empty seats on a regular basis would not have been seen. Transport? Same old, same old? Disillusioned with the PL? Or just plain coincidence?

Doesn't help that some don't list their tickets on the exchange!

Seems quite a noticeable churn rate there for the first time in a while. Hopefully that will cool the heels of Barber if he's planning any more ticket hikes

I find going to football an almost selfish thing to do when I have a young family at home. It's a tricky balance. When a game is moved to midweek, and I know the kids are asleep anyway, it's far easier for me to go.

I am renewing, but I wouldn't be against sharing a ticket with someone at this point. I'm finding it harder and harder to get to Saturday 3pm's.

I've gone from a semi-regular at away games to none at all for a few years.

It's all about priorities and family comes first.

On a wider point, inflation has been brutal recently. People are having to make hard choices on their finances. 93% renewal is excellent IMO, all things considered. A season ticket is a large monthly expense and a huge luxury.

To be clear, I'm not being snarky at all.

When I saw the 93% figure, I simply thought "how does that compare to last year?"

93% v 95% is just a few hundred people - the difference is not particularly significant.

And, yes, I've said it many times myself - if I had to pay for my two season tickets as a lump sum once a year, I simply wouldn't be able to renew. I'd revert to picking and choosing games. The direct debit scheme, with no addtional fees/interest - is fantastic for many thousands of us.

I think many of us have been through exactly as you describe - I know I went through a leaner spell of attendance when my children were younger.

Having a young family brings both financial and time pressures.

Kids are only young once, but there'll always be more football matches - of that we can be certain. The Albion will always be there for you when time and money permit.

The STH base does have a lot of OAPs in it, plus a good number of late middle aged folk who've had a rackety lifestyle.
So you'd expect a fair few just can't make it any more.

I'd say it is significant given the upward trend in team form when you would expect renewal rates to go up, not down.

As for the direct debit scheme, it's been in place for over a decade now and if it was ever withdrawn, I think it would financially harm the club way more than the people who may find as rewarding things to do with their weekends. So yeh, plenty of mutual interest to keep that going

Exactly where I'm at, I missed more games this season than last, and I think next will continue that trend and if so, it'll be my last for a while :(
