"Incredibly, 7,100 tried to claim because they had sexually transmitted diseases and nearly 10,000 because they were too fat."

75% of incapacity claimants fit to work: Benefits test weeds out workshy | Mail Online

It's in the Daily Mail, must be an accurate, untwisted statistical analysis as always!

Here is the Daily Mail's list of things that give you cancer - all links to their actual stories...

The Daily Mail is like some 1930's fear mongering propaganda paper dressed up like some happy middle england representative journalism. It's absolute garbage most of the time, a load of nonsense!:tantrum:

It would appear people are no longer fat. They are now described as having endocrine, nutritional and metabolic diseases which is of course an entireley different matter and means they are totally unable to work. Interesting ???

The headline is somewhat misleading, it suggests (to me anyway, and I'd venture I'm more intelligent than your average Mail reader) that 75% of people actually RECEIVING the benefit are fit to work. Whereas the truth is they are being turned down because of the tests, which is somewhat less of a story.

Again it's the Mail, however there is an element of truth in this. Not only are people saying they're too fat to work (how do they pay for all that food on benefit ? Maybe they shop at the chemist in Brighton) and I admit the STD is a new one on me. However how many people are on benefit because they are suffering from depression ? That has to be the biggest bogus claim out there. Whilst I accept that many people suffer from depression just how many have it so severely that it's totally debilitating and thus makes employment impossible ?

However, no matter what these people are alleged to be suffering from are there jobs for them in any case ?

It might help if they stopped eating nine and a half grand's worth of wheat free bread every month.

So a majority of people who try to claim it fail the test?

Isn't that, by the Daily Mail's standards, quite good?

Well who wants to work with fat people anyway, I'd rather they keep their lardy arses at home claiming benefit than clogging up our workplaces with their 'gland problems' and 'addictions to eating' etc - bloody oxygen theives the lot of them!

You can also get a Blue Badge for being too bleedin' fat, so that means you don't have to walk so far, thus making you fatter!

Unfortunately the last government made it socially acceptable to be money scrounging gits who sit on their oversized arses watching programmes telling them how "unlucky" they are.

It's simple get off your arse and contribute to society in whatever way you can. You may not be able to get a job but MOST could add something to society (and some do), lose weight, help a neighbour, work voluntarily for a charity to show you are willing .... and you will feel better about yourself, honest!

It annoys me that fat people are entitled to blue disabled badges for their cars. Being fat is a self imposed condition in most cases, and I'm actually quit serious in suggesting that if they had to park at the far end of the supermarket car park it might actually do them good!

The thing is that if you're that fat how do you manage to fit through the car door in order to make use of your Blue Badge ?

Agreed, I also don't see why taxpayers money goes towards paying for fat people who have health problems related to their glutony. If the conditions are self inflicted then the patient should pay

The "Care Buddy" strategically places a kebab and family pack of Mars Bars on the passenger seat by way of incentive to squeeze that little chubby body through the car doors!

Sounds right to me. Typical Mail misrepresentation to encourage people to cheer on benefit cuts for the genuinely vulnerable and needy.

Heart Attacks through excessive working
Liver & Kidney disorders through alcohol
Poor eyesight from computer games
Hearing disorders from concerts and music
Lung disease through smoking or passive smoking
Gout due to excess of offal or poor diet
Mental disorders through drug use
Broken leg playing sport
Getting beaten up due to being out at a pub (sober or otherwise)

Which ones are self inflicted and which ones aren't?

Should we place a health tax on fatty foods?

I say common sense should apply, you're too fat you need to show the NHS you are trying to lose weight and you get support, don't bother and you get left alone until the Firemen (if not on strike) come and lift you off the sofa!
