I'm sure falling at 199 in a Test has happened before and obviously it can't be counted as a failure but FFS indeed...

EDIT: Cricinfo showing quite a long list of 199's including Ian Bell in 2008 vs SA, should have remembered that one!

I haven't seen Les Dawson toil like this since his last days on Blankety Blank. 0-72 :(

He must sometimes wish he didn't bowl at all. Look only at his batting performance, add a few points on his average he'd have gained via a settled spot in the order, and nobody would be questioning his place / worth.

This is exactly what I have said consistently, his future in this England side is at no.5 and a better fill in spinner than Joe Root. With 3 all rounders solid in the team, we don't need another one. We need the best no. 5 and the best spin bowler.

We should bat him at 5, have him earn his place in weight of runs and concentrate on finding the frontline spinner for the future. I think England will probably return him down the order and have him the only 'specialist' spinner in English conditions because they can get away with it.

Apologies for my outburst at the last test. I'm super frustrated that 35 Tests into his career, we still don't really know what his role is.

India 524-5, game going absolutely nowhere, this isn't helping Test Cricket - mind you the game down in Brisbane has been a cracker...

India might as well let Karun get her double hundred and also bat for an hour after tea. Then put us in for an hour. If nothing has happened by lunch tomorrow they might as well all go home .

Great innings by Shafiq in Brisbane.

Well this is all very predictable isn't it............3-4 sessions to bat out against the turning ball, abject collapse for 100-150 and lose by an innings around tea time tomorrow.

Indeed. Highly predictable, about another 80 runs and that will probably be enough, they still have the luxury of another innings as a safety margin.

Darn good move by Jimmy Anderson reporting that little " strain " by the look of it.

Apparently Bayliss will ask Cook if he wants to carry on as Captain next summer once this Match is over. Can imagine what his expletive splattered answer will be.
