Just in Manchester Centre having a pint or two before getting the shuttle bus to Pld Trafford...

£4.40 for a pint of Peroni! Ok, it was a fancy bar served by a young lady that made Jess Ennis look plain... But still, bloody dear or have I been out of the booze game too long?!

£5.00 for the same beverage down here (Blind busker etc)

Go drinking at Hove Place and you will need to sell a kidney

Know what you mean. I took my wife to London yesterday to watch the Ladies marathon. We stopped off for a couple of ciders in the Barrowboy and Banker and watched the end of the Murray match.

They had Aspall on draught. Asked for 2 pints and had to pay £8.70! That's £4.35 a pint! We didn't bother with a second. No recession there.

I always aim for a Wetherspoons, only place these days where you can get change from a fiver after buying more than one drink. Not classy, but what it lacks in class it makes up for in drunked-making-ness.

Oh if I found a weatherspoons yesterday, I would have gone there, believe me.

They are tricksy with their ambiguous pub names and nondescript facades though, could have walked passed one and never even known! I find the easiest way to identify one is the usual group of Alex Ferguson look-a-likes hanging around out the front...

Did you know there is a Wetherspoons pub finder app for i-Phone ? Tells you the location of the nearest Spoons and/or Lloyds.

That. Is. Genius. Too bad I have no interest in ever owning a phone that does anything other than text or make calls. There should be a dedicated GPS device for identifying Wetherspoons dangit, especially for us non-smartphonites :nono:

Once, I paid £5 for a can of Red Stripe in a dingy club in Sheffield that had airport metal detectors outside. We only stayed for one drink.

Back to topic though, £4.40 is cheap for Peroni on draught. Worth it though.

It's a expensive old game going out on the piss these days. Hence why boozers are closing down left, right and centre. Even going to the local on a Friday night sets you back a bullseye these days, it's crazy.

I brew my own at 40p a pint
its 7% and a lot better than the 3% pisswater on sale in some pubs for 8 times as much
