Given our resources, we have got where we are today by having a great team - the sum of the parts is greater than the individuals involved. Mickey Adams started it off and MM has realised that it is how this group of players have reached (and so far, maintained) this level of football.

If the team starts to fall about because someone thinks they are more important than the rest then we will be in deep sh!t. It appears that Leon has shown a lack of respect to the management and his teammates

As a (non-football) manager myself, if a member of my team started to disrupt things I would do something about it quickly to ensure that it didn't start to pull things apart.

That's what MM has done and I support him fully on this.
If Leon thinks he is something special then he should try proving it because in three seasons playing at this level (with us and Shef Weds) he hasn't exactly set the world alight with his goalscoring - admittely in poor sides - and if his attitude is perceived as a problem he will find his career will never get above League One.

Probably in the minority after today's result, but i for one am 110% behind MM and his decision to drop Leon from the squad, absolutely NO PLAYER is bigger than this club and he must learn to take it like a man if he is substituted.

Leon Knight would not have made any difference in todays result i am sure of that, and i think MM will keep us up.

For me MM is the man to lead us out at Falmer.

Great post - really smoking out the real anti-Magoo eejits on NSC

fed up with all the knockers.............yeh, micky adams was quality and steve coppell done a job..but MM is the only manager to show that he's going to stay with us no matter what. HE WILL KEEP US UP AND GO DOWN IN FOLKLORE HISTORY. and he didnt desert us because we are a small club and he's 'better than this'

MM is the same MM who was a god-like creature on here only a couple of games ago for firing up the players to beat Palace away. Can't have it both ways. It's the same manager, honest. Maybe look more to the players for not being able to do the bloke justice on a regular basis. Or put a lot of it down to the selling of Adam Virgo out of a clear blue sky. We really didn't need that at this stage of the game. Tho we did need the money. Obviously.

The point of having rules which permit substitutes is so that managers can make sustitutions. These can be because of injury, for tactical reasons, or because a player is off form.

Are we clear up to this point?

So, the result of this rule is that most managers make at least one substitution per game.

And some pretty big names get substituted ... Wayne Rooney for example.

The majority of them accept it as part of the game even though they may want to stay on the pitch.

So players like Leon Knight (I would put him into a group of second tier players with average talent) are going to get substituted from time to time. As this is going to happen he needs to get used to it. In fact McGhee should probably bring him off the pitch more often so that he DOES get used to the experience.

As far as I know there is nothing in his contract which does not permit him to be substituted so he had better get used to the fact that substitutions are part of the game.
