Bairstow gone for 49... pace and bounce for Nortje, fenced outside off, nicked to 1st slip

Jonny Bairstow c Erwee b Nortje 49 (63b 7x4 0x6) SR: 77.77

134-4, trailing by 17

Bit of reverse and increased pace in the wicket... interesting times

Bloody hell that’s a snorter from Nortje, Crawley gone but not much you can do about that kind of ball, one of those where he’s almost done well to get a nick on it.

The quality of batting in test cricket has probably never been lower. Credit to the bowlers for taking advantage of the conditions, but jeez, a whole top order can't get through a tough session. I know ours can't either.

Really? That's not what people were saying in the previous series when both sides were posting huge (400+) totals. Then it was all about how shite the bowling/bowlers were...

Stokes and Foakes going along nicely, 201/5

But batting suddenly looking very much harder - its started to absolutely rip for Maharaj.

Ben Stokes 51* (101 balls, 3 fours 2 sixes) :clap2:

67.5 Harmer to Stokes, SIX runs
Test match six No.102! Stokes strides to the pitch, unleashes his levers, belts the full length high over long-on, and marches through to a vital fifty!

England 239-5 (68 overs), leading by 88

New ball due soon... will that make a change?

Stokes flicks the new ball for four, and then next ball batters it to a diving extra cover, leaping like a salmon, it is spilled by Markram.

Stokes 92*
