Most other people seem to think that the club is "well run". I have heard and read the expression used by a number of people from different backgrounds in connection to Brighton, enough to suggest that there might be something in it!
I agree, we are a club with the right intentions and the correct strategy for the current FFP environment.... we are however suffering from the miscalculations made leading into, and in the first two seasons at the Amex.

Not to mention, cutting our cloth with an already good squad in The Championship, would gives us more leverage on spending should we ever get promoted.

I'd hate to go into the last day of the window, with only 3 points on the board and scratching around for 10 players who we know are no better than what we already have, who we know are not good enough.

No its a long term failure of the business plan and operating model,.... somebody cocked up big time.

Which is why Ken Brown has gone and Barber is here.

Maybe you could set up a fund for buying players and get everyone to contribute to it.

Or explain WTF you expect Tony Bloom to spend millions more every year after everything he has done for this club ?

If that was the case, then a lot of clubs aren't taking it very seriously are they?! Prime example Nottingham Forest.

Forest have a one year shirt sponsorship deal from a Qatari company rumoured to be for about £10 million.

The Albion's deal with Amex is about £500k over three years.

Sadly I fear, and I don't take any pleasure out of saying it, that the crowds already are tailing off. I am not going into the reported vs actual attendance debate again, but we all know that there was not 26807 there on Saturday, or even for the Derby and Burnley games. This simply equates to less match day income, whichever way the 'happy clappers' on this board like to spin it, it cant be argued.

That may well be the case, yes. Season Ticket sales were up again though and that is a major chunk of income. As matchday income in season 1 and probably 2 was much higher than they first thought, I would HOPE that they have not taken that into account too much for future budgeting purposes.

Attendances are definitely down from the end of last season but on the other hand they are at least on a par with this time last year, and probably higher - we do afterall have 23,000 season ticket holders!

I'm not really sure which is the fairer comparison. Afterall, the season starts in August when plenty are still away on holidays. Plus, we're all a bit deflated after the events following that horrible night in May.

The bottom line is that YOU wanted another striker and didn't get it. Meh. Others disagree based on the fact that we are now unbeaten in 3 games having scored in every game this season, with two decent and fit strikers, and loans still available.

Shut up will you,... if you read my post(s), its simply expressing a bit of frustration that we are seemingly behind a lot of comparable clubs in this division, despite having the largest crowds every week. It is allowed you know.

Our losses were roughly in line with budget, so TB was expecting to subsidise the club on an operational level for a few more years.

Keep reading about that we don't want to be fined for breaking FFP rules etc but not once have I read how much these fines will be. Is it £10K, £20K, £1M?

If its say £20k then we might as well carry on and buy players.

If you had made it clear that it was just a :tantrum: rather than thought out reasoning, i wouldn't have bothered replying in the first place, so i'll shut up now.

If it wasn't a surprise, then why was there this sudden surge towards cost cutting? FFP has been in the pipeline for a while now, so that isn't new. I am sure TB et al were caught out by the level of losses, else there wouldn't have been this panic last year once the 8 million operating deficit was revealed.

Does a points deduction come into this at some point? I am sure I read that somewhere too. Points will be the only way to ensure there is compliance, and thus a relatively level playing field,.... well level if you don't consider the massive advantage the parachute payments present.

Accounts will be published by December, 6-7 months after the season has ended. Fines will be applied in the following January and also a potential transfer embargo. Any retrospective points deduction will be impossible to implement.

We kept all our best players.

25 players in a Premiership squad means lots of quality strikers will be for the taking in the loan market.

Nope, not at the moment. Only transfer embargoes until such time as the club can present financial statements that show that it is now FFP compliant.
