I’d flog Maupay and bring in Destiny & BBD. Loan or sell the rest ending up with this 25:

1. Sanchez ( HGP ) (2025)
2. Steele ( HGP ) (2023)
3. Rushworth (2025)
4. Lamptey (HGP) (2025)
5. March ( HGP ) (2024 + option)
6. Cucurella (2026)
7. Veltman (2023 + option)
8. Webster ( HGP ) ( 2026)
9. Dunk ( HGP ) (2025)
10. Destiny Udogie (2026)
11. Van Hecke (2023)
12. Mac Allister (2023)
13. Caicedo (2025)
14. Moder (2025)
15. Alzate ( HGP ) (2024)
16. Lallana ( HGP ) (2023)
17. Groß (2024)
18. Enciso (2026)
19. Sarmiento ( HGP ) (2026)
20. Trossard (2023 + option)
21. Mitoma (2025)
22. Brereton-Diaz (2026)
23. Welbeck ( HGP ) (2023 + maybe longer)
24. Undav (2026)
25. Mwepu (2025)

I would be stunned if we sold a proven striker who has scored 26 in the Premier League in 3 seasons as a youngster and is just coming into their prime unless we had someone REALLY exciting coming in, like the top championship striker ... oh

And Undav!

The principal issue with Maupay (like Bissouma) is the contractual situation. I could see clubs like Leeds, Wolves and Newcastle mounting a chase if he doesn’t extend soon.

I would say that Brentford is by far the most likely candidate if Maupay moves within the PL.

Napoli slowly creeping towards a deal for Østigård, Cochrane rumoured at a handful of Championship clubs, Rushworth loan to Portsmouth ?

Maybe a bit of squad reduction is quite close.

Brighton factually.....
And what are your suspicions on Ali Mac signing a new contract?

I would suspect he is happy here and although he has been excellent for us last year, he never actually stole the show, now Yves has gone, he will possibly be more important and his chance to shine is this coming season, I can see him extending his contract with us as his name is not being banded around in the transfer merry-go-round at present.

Next season I can see him as a very important piece of the jigsaw puzzle and his stock will rise, sign now and he will increase his wage and the potential to increase his profile.

Well, I think you're seeing it through B&HA-tinted spectacles, whereas he may well be seeing it very differently, encouraged by his agent. They are the ones that hold the cards, which is something we'll have to come to live with. I've little doubt that there will be a host of PL clubs -- plus also in Italy and Spain -- that would like Ali Mac on their books, especially if there's further development from him next season. And they'll be willing to pay very high wages for his services. What he and his agent will be contemplating at present will be the kinds of offers he'd receive next summer, versus the security and increased pay that would be a feature of a new B&HA contract.

Where they fall within that conundrum is far from certain. What's more certain is that B&HA will continue to view things through B&HA-tinted spectacles.

Interesting. I knew about the Ostigarde to Napoli possibility, but out of interest where did the other suggestions come from (not that they don't sound quite plausible)?

Today's Athletic :

"Some national managers, most notably Martinez with Belgium, have actually urged their players against moving this summer for fear that the upheaval of a transfer risks a detrimental effect on a player’s form or state of mind."

I think that pretty much rules out Trossard leaving before the World Cup.

Local press mainly.

For instance the Coventry argus equivalent analyses Cochrane as a possible target. Also Portsmouth press mentioned Rushworth.

I can't re-trawl for all the links, but here is one :

Of course, it is rumour, no more.

Cheers, thanks - I've found one or two references myself, now I've taken the trouble to use Google (which I should have done before asking lazy questions!)

These are my thoughts on our 'at risk' players using BV's excellent summary:

U21. Ferguson 2023 Unknown 1 Question - we don't have the info on contact duration, but probably okay? BV - please can you help?
U21. Jenks 2023 Unknown 1 Question - ditto
U21. Sima 2023 Unknown 1 Question - ditto

12. van Hecke (2023) 2023 Known 2 Risk - club need to act or may lose this player
13. Østigård (2023) 2023 Known 2 Risk - ditto (probably going!)
17. Lallana ( HGP ) (2023) 2023 Known 2 Risk - ditto
19. Mac Allister (2023) 2023 Known 2 Risk - ditto
2. Steele ( HGP ) (2023) 2023 Known 2 Risk - ditto
23. Maupay (2023) 2023 Known 2 Risk - ditto
24. Welbeck ( HGP ) (2023 + maybe longer) 2023 Known 2 Risk - ditto
U21. Khadra (2023) 2023 Known 2 Risk - ditto
U21. Leonard (2023) 2023 Known 2 Risk - ditto
U21. Roberts (2023) 2023 Known 2 Risk - ditto

7. Veltman (2023 + option) 2023 Option 3 Option - club to exercise option to minimise risk of player leaving
21. Trossard (2023 + option) 2023 Option 3 Option - ditto

10. Duffy ( HGP ) (2023) 2023 Known 4 Can Go - bye?
11. Clarke ( HGP ) (2023) 2023 Known 4 Can Go - ditto
26. Andone (2023) 2023 Known 4 Can Go - ditto

Well, that's what I think anyway...

We've taken up one year extension options on several of our U23s, presumably so that we can command a fee for them (one of them was Cochrane, who's already gone) - there doesn't seem much point in loaning them out for a year only for them to go on a free.

Actually where is Connolly in the list? Surely we need to offload if he isn’t already ?

Thank you [emoji120] and what about Connolly? Shouldn’t he be on list?
