I don’t understand why people so often seem to want the Norwich fullbacks Lewis and Aarons.

Just because they’re young doesn’t mean they’re that good - every time I’ve watched them they get beaten defensively time and time again and look pretty flimsy. I’d have Lamptey over both, and Bernardo for that matter.

I think these days people see some pace and attacking ability from full backs and get starry eyed. Obviously it helps but so does positional sense and the ability to defend. Bernardo is the unluckiest squad member we have I think in relation to number of starts due to BDB's consistently solid performances. If he is ok with fighting for his place then it isn't a position we need to strengthen at all in my opinion, certainly not as a priority anyway.

Crofts being named in the squad is nothing to do with him playing for the U23's. He can play for the U23's even if he isn't named in the 25 man PL squad, when he signed there was never any intention to name him in the PL squad.

He has been named in the squad as we had spaces and no one to fill them. Naming him was risk free and made sense in case there was an major injury crisis. Better to have named him and not need him, than not name him and then be unable to play him.

Okay, I thought I told at the training centre, that was the only reason he was named in the squad. Your theory makes sense as well. He has played well in the U23's when I have seen him to be fair.

I understand how Bernardo is not first choice left back, but I don’t get why he is not first choice left wing back? He has pace & height and can defend very well. Tells me that Potter does not fancy him. I suspect an attacking option like Jamal Lewis (or the young lad being wasted at Spurs) might be on the cards. And the other left wing back option; I just don’t think that March offers the defensive assurance or the decisive final ball needed for a top ten Premier League team.

Potter seems like a decent fella, I imagine he is happy to sit down and discuss his plans with any of the squad and will be suggesting to some that they currently won't make the 25 in the hope they will get onto their agent and help get something moving. From that '29' there are probably 8 or 9 that GP is willing to see move on but with a shorter window we may have to send some out on loan

In the end I expect us to have a senior squad of 26 including U23s like Connolly, Lamptey and maybe Molumby so not really expecting a full 25 to be named.

The bloated central midfield numbers also need reducing.

Without a few of the U21s who might be involved- Jenks, Richards, Cochrane, Yapi etc. And with a LB and striker needed, maybe even another CM, and we're after this Turkish GK apparently.
Squad is way, way to big.
