. I cannot see Potter giving a squad place to anyone over 21 who hasn't already had significant game time except for Walton & White, but any U21's have a chance of being involved as they do not take up a place.

It was only a few months ago we were all delighted to have signed Mooy permanently and all sorts of fans were raving about him. Sure, he’s gone a bit off the boil but I don’t place him in that list personally for now - needs more time to prove himself etc.

And Potter really seems to like him. Can't see Mooy going anywhere.

In terms of new signing it struck me that this is the first season in a while where there seems to be some genuine talent to swoop for in the relegated teams. Normally there's a couple of players but this year there seems an unusual amount that Prem teams will look at;

I don’t understand why people so often seem to want the Norwich fullbacks Lewis and Aarons.

Just because they’re young doesn’t mean they’re that good - every time I’ve watched them they get beaten defensively time and time again and look pretty flimsy. I’d have Lamptey over both, and Bernardo for that matter.

I wouldn't be surprised to get some early news.

Don't much care about the squad. Within the Albion's financial limitations, it's bound to be overall EPL bottom 6 in strength. I do however care passionately about the Albion core starting XI. Without that core, we'll be doing exactly what we're doing this season ie scrabbling about in the bottom half dozen, hoping for the best...

Our signings tend to come from Europe, mostly Netherlands, Belgium, France and Germany, you don’t need to quarantine when coming in from those countries. In fact the list of countries that we have free travel in from is now around 75, bring on the Vietnamese internationals.

I agree with your IN. Andrew Crofts is only named in the squad so it enables him to play in U23 games. He was signed as a coach/player so he could do this during games on the pitch.

Also Andone has a long term serious injury I would be surprised if we could get a buyer who would take on his contract (money) until its proven he could play again.

Crofts being named in the squad is nothing to do with him playing for the U23's. He can play for the U23's even if he isn't named in the 25 man PL squad, when he signed there was never any intention to name him in the PL squad.

He has been named in the squad as we had spaces and no one to fill them. Naming him was risk free and made sense in case there was an major injury crisis. Better to have named him and not need him, than not name him and then be unable to play him.

Looks like the shopping list could be new striker, left back, and a winger (depending on what happens with Izzy and AJ).

The other upgrade could be better competition for Maty but that'll be way down the priority list.
