25 goal hitter?

strike force will have a different look to it next season. There will be no Nicky Forster and Murray will not be regarded as the No. 1 forward, with a 25-goal big-hitter a priority for Gus Poyet’s summer spending spree.

from argus report who are the players in the frame?

Wow, did the argus make that up all by themselves? Gosh they are clever, I wish we could get the argus round here, I'd buy 2 copies a day just so I could read the insightful 'news' stories with both eyes pointing in different directions. What next, "The pope wears a funny hat" exclusive!, or "Bears defecate in wooded areas". It is becoming embarrassing argus, sort yourselves out, get some journalists, or just stop writing about the Albion.

Austin (if Swindon don't go up) and Rhodes from Huddersfield for me. Both will do well next season in this league whoever they play for.

Oh yes, of course, it would be better if the Argus just stopped writing about the Albion and we went from having minimal coverage in the press to virtually none, leaving only the official site and the occasional 30-second Skysports piece when we sack or hire a manager.

I think the Argus do a good job and get a ridiculous amount of unwarranted stick on here. They often break stories before any other source and because the sports section relies so heavily on Albion coverage there are bound to be one or two less-than-inspiring articles every now and again.

If you don't want to read their stories, don't buy the paper. Simple.

Neither are good enough to be gauranteed 25+ goals a season. It will need to be one from a higher division coming down to us like Billy Sharp or DJ Campbell but not probably either of them but somebody similar.

Well said! Although we are on North Stand Chat and must moan about everything and anything we can...

Is Austin really that good? All his goals seem to be tap-ins. I know that shows he always gets in the right positions but I think we should be aiming higher. Someone of the Lambert mould - guaranteed goalgetter.

Frankly the Argus should sack Naylor and spend his salary on NSC.

I agree they are the only independent reporting of the Albion on a regualr basis, it's just that they state the bleeding obvious so much. I take your point about having regular stuff in the paper, but it just isn't worth it. Why don't they get their journalists out there at all types of sport in the county, people might actually find that interesting, and then, when they get a proper story about the Albion, then publish it. I don't buy the paper as I live outside their catchment area, and don't worry, I wouldn't buy it if I was.

Lambert Southampton 29
Barnard Southampton 24
Beckford Leeds United 24
Holt Norwich 24
Paynter Swindon 23
Austin Swindon 19
Rhodes Huddersfield 19
Morison Millwall 18

You have to start by looking at this proven list of league one goalscorers. I suspect the only ones we could lure away from their present clubs are Paynter and Austin. Can't see any of the others coming our way.

Barnes looks sharp enough to bag 20+, but ideally I would sell Murray and get a top quality striker beside Barnes and definitely get Lua Lua if he is at all affordable.

I would start by poaching Swindon's chief scout - Simon Cox and Charlie Austin in the last 2 seasons (and Billy Painter) to boot. Ashley Barnes has made a terrific impact and Glenn Murray if he gets his head right could have the season of his life. Dickinson and Davies won't be here next season and Holroyd will be a bit part player. I would like Brett Pitman as my number 1 target, Billy Sharpe or Billy Painter. I know people will say we need to be realistic but if we seriously are targeting top two next season, we need to be signing higher calibre players. Albions form has been play off standard in the last few months and we will need to step up a gear if we realistically want automatic promotion

Got a feeling Poyet will pluck a foreign lad, or premiership youngster who will smash in a load before Xmas and will struggle to keep him. Murray will get more next season (although goals to games record record this season ain't bad) as well

Grant Holt has proved he cant cut it in the championship so will probably be available in January and we missed the boat with Barnard, who I suggested signing when he was at Spurs prior to going to Southend.

Robbie blake wants to leave burnley for first team football, now there would be our 25+ goal man in this division! But he aint gonna come here!
