Don't think the TdF has been this over by the end of stage 4 since I don't know when!
Theres a chance that Remco could be in yellow come the end of friday. Also JV took some serious time from Pogacar in the time trial last year. But yeah. I hope its not a reapeat of the Giro.

This is a truly remarkable story from one of GB's great sportsmen. Truly inspirational, bravo Cav!

Adore Cav. I'm always in awe at the speed at which the sprinters go but the way today in the last 200-800 metres Cav moved from being boxed in on the right by weaving through several small gaps that opened up in order to get a clear run out in the left -- and at such speed -- was so skilful.

Wow, I’ve only just found out, only just watched my Eurosport recording. The No1 British sportsman for me, I love Cav. It’s emotional.

The final km was brutal, elbows and bashing, at an insane speed.
Same here... only just seen it on Sky News. I've got today's stage recorded but haven't had a chance to FF through it. I love Cav too and was gutted at what happened last year. Wasn't optimistic that he'd get the vital stage win, so this is amazing news. I will watch it tomorrow. There's nothing else going on tomorrow after all :ROFLMAO:

A friend broke the news, but then worried they’d ruined me watching the recording. Far from it, a seminal day for me. I was slightly pessimistic too, only because at 39 did he have the power against the powerhouses many years younger.

Anyone else notice his rear mech break, & chain throw, just after he crossed the line?!

Never used to like Cav in his early days, but the years have mellowed him & absolutely delighted hes got that record.
Yes, ITV focussed on the chain drop immediately after the stage had finished.

Unlike you I have always loved Cav. And I love him more and more every year.

I noticed someone bunny hopping a fallen rider about 100m before the finish line.

Same here. He was a little outspoken from time to time, imho honest, similar to Lewis Hamilton who also had British haters. Didn’t affect my adoration at all. Post race yesterday Eurosport actually touched on this, their quartet pre-dismissed “the online haters” who’ll claim Cav should’ve been stripped of the win because he took a path to the left 100m out.

Just caught up including. Great post ride interview. I love listening to him speak.

Not sure what was happening at the end of the interview. Cav's expression changed and he said, "Matt it was me, I was talking more he wasn't asking". And then voices at the back saying something about touching and then Cav saying, "guys guys guys"???

I was trying to avoid spoilers but failed. It did not reduce my enjoyment one bit. What a way to do it. It could have been an easy, full team lead-out but no, done the hard way. I had my doubt after Saturday but that was magnificent and worthy of a record holder. My late Mum loved the Tour and Cav in particular so I cheered for her too.
