When was the last 50 over World Cup England didn’t fail massively?

We got to the final in 79, 87 and 92 - we got battered in two of them though. We lost in 87 narrowly - we were doing well until Gatting got into his head that a reverse sweep was the shot to play (it was a new innovation around that time and not many batsmen used it -Gatting was not normally one of them)

How is it that the Indian supporters are able to hoover up all the tickets? It's not like England fans aren't ticket savvy. The Pakistan game was the same.

Simple really. There is a ballot for tickets.

It appears more Indian supporters applied per capita so you've got a higher ratio.

You can't deny Mr Patel from Leicester a ticket on account of his surname. That's a bit 'Norman Tebbit'.
