So, another January has rolled round which can mean only one thing on NSC, it's time for the annual Worlds Hardest Creature competition. Turienzo's Lovechild has stepped down from his role as WHC impresario after giving five sterling years to the competition.
I am stepping into the vast metaphorical shoes that he is leaving behind and will do my damnedest to fill them.
The rules are much the same as always. For a creature to be eligible it must be nominated and seconded. The opening round will be a group stage with only the top 2-4(depending on size of groups) qualifying for the knock out rounds. The knockouts will be drawn at random and will be a straight face off, 1 v 1. No second chances for being a runner up in these rounds.
When you vote please consider carefully your definition of hard. It shouldn't just be a question of size, although size and power are positive attributes to possess. There are any number of factors that you should take into consideration, not least of them such factors as aggressiveness, adaptability, ability to survive/take a pounding. These are all equally if not more important factors to consider. A cow is big but its not hard.
For those of you new to the board or for those that just want a reminder of the history of this prestigious competition here's how the previous tournaments (well, finals) played out. Winners are in bold.
2013: Polar Bear vs Crocodile
2012: Black Mamba vs Orca
2011: Orca vs Honey Badger
2010: Hippo vs Honey Badger
2008/9: Polar Bear vs Crocodile
2007: Polar Bear vs Crocodile
The Polar Bear is going back into retirement for this years competition.
If you nominate a creature you should be prepared to back it. If you don't and it gets knocked out please don't bother bitching and whining. you should have done more to support it.
So, without further ado, lets get nominating!
