There was: Warren Aspinall. I was listening to him and Johnny and he called it before it hit the back of the net.
Johnny seemed unconvinced, but Warren seemed pretty sure. At least as sure as you can be when VAR is involved.

I called it straight away. I was right in line and was certain it was off. Couldn’t believe the Lino didn’t flag.
But the freeze frame highlights he was correct NOT to flag.

Calls that tight can't be made on the field at full-speed.

I was convinced it was significantly offside (which it clearly wasn't) and the lino was going to flag, when that didn't happen I assumed it must've been onside. Very 'tight' call in the end...

Really ?

I'm convinced that's onside and certainly not clear and obvious

Offsides are a matter of fact with the post goal review of lines.

It has nowt do with the subjective assessment by the ref, then VAR, of unclear other events.

VAR for offside isn't about 'clear and obvious' in the way that penalties and red cards are. They draw the lines on the players, and if it shows as 1mm offside, it's given as offside.

Watching on TV was pretty sure it was going to be offside or at least close. Seemed to take an age to even start the VAR review, though, was beginning to feel like they weren’t going to look at it!
