[Albion] 15th minute round of applause for Preston fan Dylan Crossey

Terribly sad.

But I'll say the unspeakable: I don't know enough about the psychology of footballers: by giving a 15th minute celebration to this poor kid could we also be giving the opposition extra adrenaline to 'do it for Dylan'?

If that were the case I'd prefer to find a different way, like a collection before the game.

There. Said it. Soz.

It would have been better to put 'Soz' at the start of the post and then considered what you were sorry for. Perhaps you may have reconsidered.

Folks show of humanity transcends any imagined extra prowess the opposition may take from it. My only personal 'soz' is that you fail to recognise that such feelings of empathy can bring a greater contentment and happiness than any poxy football result. Solidarity and kinship is what unites us all.

This may sound pious or too philosophical. So to allay your fears, it's unlikely to affect said result. So just join in or keep wise your counsel.

Well it's good to see a considered and reasonable reply, rather than threats of violence!

I don't think my original post was actually nasty in any way. It was horrible what happened to the poor kid but horrible things happen to football fans every day and personally I believe that there has to be some separation between the nastiness in society and football matches which are, football matches.

Tomorrow my complete focus on our game is beating Preston and I would rather sympathise with poor Dylan in a different, out of game way, like putting a tenner in a bucket for his poor grieving family.

You're unlikely to ever hear from me again as Simmo/Simmo's henchmen do for me at half time so bye-bye.

Just apologise for getting it wrong.
Don't kid yourself I've got henchman.
The match tomorrow is just a kickabout .
I will clap my hands on fifteen minutes.
You can cry all you like and get compensation for hurt feelings :moo:

Bozza made his OP quite clear "(If you don't agree with such tributes, that's your choice, please move on from this thread. You have nothing to add to it.)"

So why be a dick?
